1. Salzburger Altstadt

Who needs the hustle and bustle of Christmas shopping in New York when a cosy and easy-going atmosphere is not too far away. A stroll through the Getreide- and Linzergasse promises a whole array of shops to be discovered. From the exclusive Haute Couture shops with international designers, shops selling traditional costumes and labels from Salzburg designers. Also, there are a number of outlets selling accessories, shoes, toys, jewellery, bags handicrafts and interior design items, all of which can be found in the heart of Salzburg city. In between, saunter through the world-famous Salzburg Christmas Market or take a walk up to the small, idyllic Advent Market at the Hohensalzburg Fortress.

2. Europark & Outlet Centre

The Europark shopping centre is situated in the city of Salzburg and has something to offer for all those looking for something stylish and charming whilst shopping in relaxed surroundings. Colourful gifts are in abundance, as well as culinary temptations with cafés, restaurants. The air is filled with the smells of cloves, cinnamon and honey as one strolls from shop to shop searching for that special present for a loved one.

The Designer Outlet is situated near Salzburg Airport and a just a couple of minutes’ drive from the city centre. Here designer brands are greatly reduced in price, making it an ideal place to find that perfect Christmas bargain. Alongside the shopping centre, with more than 100 shops, there are also cafés and restaurants as well as designated play areas for children. 3. Halleiner Altstadt

Hallein also boasts a great variety of different stores. The historically listed old town of Hallein, in the Tennengau region is  a shopping experience renowned for its impressive architecture, spacious squares and quaint alleyways and especially worth a visit during the period of Advent. Perhaps take a break from shopping and visit the residence of Franz Xaver Gruber, the composer of one of the most well-known Christmas carols Silent Night. The Bayrhamerplatz Christmas Market is full of atmosphere and also offers many salt products from the salt mines of Hallein. In years gone by, salt was known as “white gold”. The Christmas Market in the Alten Saline is indoors and can be enjoyed in all weather conditions.

4. St. Johann Shopping

The shopping area of St Johann is both modern and individual and provides a perfect opportunity for shopping away from the hustle and bustle of Advent. The majority of the shops are family owned ensuring an inspirational range of gifts and presents. 5. Zell am See

Zell am See-Kaprun is a region for real “shopping experiences“. The magic of Advent can be felt throughout the whole pedestrianised zone of the mountain town of Zell am See. There are two Christmas markets – one on the town square and the second in front of the Porsche Congress Centre. Fairy-lights, stars and angels illuminate the pedestrian one and the Star Advent Market offers a welcome pause from shopping, where one can stop and warm up cold hands by sipping on a punch or mulled vine and sample the regional delicacies of the Pinzgau region.
