Biking and SalzburgerLand simply belong together. And not only for the fact that a few decades ago the first mountain bikers conquered the hills and mountains and thus set the foundation for a new life and body feeling. This land also belongs to the absolute pioneers and visionaries when it comes to Downhill and Freestyle biking. In a time where no-one had ever heard of bike parks, here the first ones were being opened. Not for nothing do thousands of bike athletes of all ages and abilities flock to the Salzburg Mountains every year, in order to play and test their limits and their skills in the four bike parks.
A biking holiday in SalzburgerLand is also perfect thanks to the close proximity between the different bike parks and the many bike hotels and bike friendly businesses that turn every stay into a real experience. Are you convinced? Then, it only remains to decide in which park your adventure should begin.
Bike Park Leogang
Since its opening in 2001, the Bike Park Leogang has established itself as one of the most prestigious bike parks in Europe. The comprehensive offering of the Bike Park Leogang has been certified through the seal “Kona Groove Approved Bike Park”. Only 11 bike parks worldwide, from the Whistler in Canada to Levi in Finland, have met this quality standard.
On top of this, more than 720km of mountain bike trails and 480km of valley bike trails promise a close to nature biking experience in various degrees of difficulty.
Bike Circuit Saalbach Hinterglemm
Embedded in the Pinzgau Mountains, the Bike Circuit Saalbach-Hinterglemm has established itself as the leading mountain biking region in Austria – especially for Freeriders, Downhillers and Dirtfreaks. No other resort in Austria offers so many Freeride and Downhill sections!
Bike Park Wagrain
Designed by Dave Kelly, the construction master of the park in Whistler Mountain, the Bike Park in Wagrain offers absolute diversity on over 300 metres of circuit. Using the “Flying Mozart” cable car, bikers get up onto the mountain in no time at all. Then, it’s time to head down into the valley on flowing lines, peppered with wooden obstacles. There is something for every level here!
Bike Park Maiskogel
On an approx. 2,000m² large area close to the Schaufelberg Mountain valley station in Kaprun, sits the Bike Park Maiskogel. Here, teams and “Private Riders” can train and have fun. From a 4m high hill, a trail starts with 2 drops and steep curves as well as a Pro-Line and a Blue-Line. Both are equipped with 3 kickers. Next to it is the Pump Track with 40cm high hills and steep turns. Right next door is the open space with pallets, bridges, and stairs and if needed extra built obstacles used by the Outdoor Centre Kaprun guides, under the direction of Helmut Schneider, for individual biking and children’s training.
