Advent in the Tennengau

Advent markets & folk traditions

During Christmas season,
the Tennengau is a place of
quiet reflection and ages-old traditions.

"Advent in Tennengau", with its traditional events during December, always manages to captivate guests and locals alike, every single year.

Traditional Advent and Christmas markets - enhanced by the tempting fragrances of freshly cut twigs, the tempting aromas of punch and spiced wine, baked apples, hot chestnuts, oranges and cinnamon, - living traditions and Christmas events that increase your anticipation for the big celebration ahead.

The Advent folder, which contains all of our pre-Christmas events, is available for free from the Tennengau's local and regional tourist offices.

Silent Night! Holy Night!

One very special tip during this reflective time of year is a visit to the Silent Night Museum in Hallein. In the former home of composer Franz Xaver Gruber, visitors find many of his personal possessions, the guitar used at the first performance, as well as original manuscripts of this world-famous Christmas song.
