The cycling network in SalzburgerLand leaves absolutely nothing to be desired. With a total of 32 cycle routes, including the top 7, guarantee guests and locals alike a variety filled bike experience with new discoveries around every corner. The network of routes opens up 2,000km, giving you the opportunity to cycle through all the regions, through villages, towns and cities and past the numerous attractions on offer in this land. Anyone who feels like discovering something new away from the main routes and getting to know both the local people and the land a bit better should definitely take a look at our top cycling tips in SalzburgerLand. 1 The Baroque Tour

This circular route takes you on the trail of the greatest Austrian woodcarver of the Baroque era, Meinrad Guggenbichler. It stops off at Strasswalchen, Irrsdorf, Lamprechtshausen, Michaelbeuern, Palting and Lochen. The cycle path also takes you to the deanery church in Köstendorf, famous for its rich Baroque interior.

Length: 77km – with the option of taking some short cuts!
Elevation change: 590m

2 The Glemmtal Cycle Path

Cycle along the river Saalach and discover the most beautiful places along this river. The Glemmtal Cycle Path runs between Saalbach, Hinterglemm and Viehhofen. In Lungau you head up to analtitude of 1,146m.

3 The Grossarltal Cycle Path

This relatively new route takes you comfortably and without any big uphills alongside the banks of the Grossarler Ache to the end of the valley, and is ideal for families and those wanting to get out and enjoy the scenery and nature. The numerous chapels beside the path are very striking. In total you will pass 10 chapels along he way, from the Laireitingkapelle in Großarl to the Hubertuskapelle, which is close to the Talwirt Inn.

4 The Mitterberg Tour

This gentle, relaxing cycle circuit through Lungau takes you along the Taurach and Mur rivers. You will pass many old fortresses and castles and visit small idyllic villages which invite you to rest and while away the time. The Mitterberg tour connects seamlessly with the River Mur cycle path.

Elevation change: 180m

5 Saalachspitz Cycle Route

This is a small cycle loop with no climbs, right on the banks of the Salzach and Saalach rivers. It takes you from Salzburg to Wals-Siezenheimhttps://www.salzburg-umgebung.com/en/locations.htm and via the Tauern Cycle Path back to Salzburg. You will also pass through the “Walser Gemüseland”, an area renowned for producing outstanding vegetables.

6 The Saalach Tour

This beautiful cycle circuit takes you by a few of the most beautiful ‘wild waters’ of SalzburgerLand. Salzburg’s Saalachtal is a mecca for wild-water enthusiasts, and wild swimming enthusiasts also find beautiful bathing spots here. On this route you’ll pass by Lofer, St. Martin and Reit, where you’ll find many beautiful places to climb down from your saddle and take a breather.

7 The Salt & Lakes Tour

This circuit weaves through the Salzachtal Valley in Tennengau and the Salzburg Lake District, with its numerous highlights along the way including the Salt City of Hallein, the Lammeröfen Gorge, the Mozart City of Salzburg and the Wallersee and Trumer lakes.

Length: 162km
Elevation change: 620m – with an optional additional 600m sporting variant.

8 The Goldberg Cycle Path

Discover the picturesque Rauris valley from the comfort of your saddle. The old Rauris buildings dating back to the days of gold mining, and a gold-panning site next to the Gasthof Bodenhaus, do justice to the name of this tour.

9 Around Lake Zell

Loop around Lake Zell, without climbs, and mostly sticking to the lake shore. Be sure to savour every moment with the glorious views of the Kitzsteinhorn and a few of the highest peaks in the Salzburg Alps. The highlight is the town of Zell am See with all its attractions and stop-off points.

10 Around the Untersberg

This circuit around one of the most imposing and fabled mountains in SalzburgerLand, takes you from south of Salzburg city to Großgmain and into bordering Berchtesgaden. It then heads back to the Mozart City ofSalzburg via the municipality of Marktschellenberg, where a well-earned rest awaits.
