Tamsweg in Salzburg‘s Lungau officially opens the 25th Salzburg Harvest Festival on Sunday, August 16, 2020 Every year one of the more than 70 farmers ‘autumn locations across the country opens the Salzburg farmers’ autumn with a large traditional festival.
The 25th anniversary of the Harvest Festival will begin this year with a grand opening in Tamsweg in Salzburg‘s Lungau. The 25th Salzburg Harvest Festival will officially open in Tamsweg on Sunday, August 16, 2020. Visitors can expect a varied program on this day from 10 a.m. with a large parade with numerous beautifully decorated floats, the “Giant Samson“, music bands and rifle companies, traditional groups, vintage timer gates, folk dance performances and a “band dance – on horseback” as well traditional craft demonstrations. On this day, the Tamsweg market area turns into a large stage full of music, dance, traditions and customs. Salzburg‘s Lungau is widely known for its alpine delicacies, which can be tasted at numerous farmers’ autumn stands and in the taverns on site. The special exhibition “300 Years of Tamsweger Samson” can be viewed in the Heimatmuseum Tamsweg.
Following the opening ceremony, visitors can look forward to an atmospheric series of events as part of the anniversary week “25 Years Harvest Festival”. So on Wednesday, August 19, 2020 it says “Z’sammsitz’n in Tamsweg“, on August 22, 2020 there will be a “singer and music hut hut” on the Preber and on August 23, 2020, the anniversary “300 years Tamsweger Samson ”celebrated with a big ceremony, parade and Samson dance of all twelve Samsones. www.salzburgerlungau.com
