This sporty variant of the popular Tauern Cycle Path uses - in so far as it's possible and makes sense - large and, of course, continuously paved stages of the Tauern Cycle Path. Which allows cyclists to avoid many of the stretches along main roads. Meaning that road bikers, too, get to enjoy (almost) all of the cultural and visual highlights that have long since excited tourers along the Tauern Cycle Path. For example between Lend and Schwarzach (via Gasthof Posauner and the reservoirs), from Golling to Kuchl or from Maria Alm to the Zeller See.
Here you will find a short description (86KB), while this map (5MB) also provides an overview.
Etappe 1: Krimml - Mittersill - Bruck
Etappe 2: Bruck - Bischofshofen - Salzburg
Etappe 3: Salzburg - Lofer - Bruck
Karin Gruber, winner of numerous road races, incl. 7-time "Queen of the Glockner", comments on the new road-bike variant: "Along the Tauern Cycle Path, ambitious and more laid-back road cyclists are greeted by a wealth of cultural and culinary highlights. The route leads directly through Werfen, home of the Obauers, our most famous and internationally acclaimed chefs. Believe me, you are in for an amazing culinary treat there.
