Goldegg Castle
Dating back to the 14th century, Goldegg Castle is reflected in the moorland lake below and blends harmoniously with the church and historic village centre. This is a place to arrive, unwind and leave everyday life behind. The castle walls are home to much of the village’s cultural life. The local cultural association organises concerts, readings and exhibitions here. The castle also houses the studios of the painting academy and the Pongau Museum of Local History.
Bathing Lakes & Golf
Both the Goldegg moorland lake, with its 1920s-style bathing facility, and the crystal-clear Lake Böndlsee offer refreshing swimming experiences for those seeking relaxation. Another special highlight is Goldegg Golf Club, whose 18-hole championship course impresses with breathtaking views and a varied layout.
Goldegg Alpine Huts
The alpine huts around Goldegg are wonderful places to enjoy a variety of regional delicacies alongside magnificent panoramic views. Each hut has its own speciality and is waiting to be discovered. The huts can be reached either on foot or by bicycle. E-mountain bikes are available to hire from the local tourist office for a more comfortable journey.
From Goldegg, hiking Stages 3 and 4 of the Salzburger Almenweg is highly recommended. The route leads from Dienten across the Schneebergkreuz to Lake Böndlsee and continues from there via Lend and the Kögeralm to Dorfgastein. Long-distance hiking reveals the Salzburg mountains at their very best.
Shepherds’ Chapel
The Shepherds’ Chapel on the Meislstein was consecrated in 1999 and is located only around a 20-minute walk from the Meislsteinalm. Inside, visitors will discover intricate carvings created by a local sculptor. The views extend from the mighty Hochkönig massif in the north to the Hohe Tauern mountains in the south. The Shepherds’ Chapel is a true place of natural energy, inviting visitors to pause, reflect and recharge for everyday life.
Almenweg Stages in Goldegg
Stages 3 and 4 of the Salzburger Almenweg cross the Salzburg Sun Terrace. Its three villages are therefore ideally situated for joining the long-distance hiking trail. Stage 3 leads across the Schneebergkreuz and Gamskögerl to Lake Böndlsee in Goldegg. From there, Stage 4 continues to Lend before passing the Kögeralm and the Drei-Waller Chapel on the way to the valley village of Dorfgastein.
