For many, autumn is the most beautiful time of year, as the traditional Bauernherbst begins around the lake. The region bursts into color — trees dress themselves in vibrant hues, young women and men proudly wear their colorful dirndls and festive lederhosen, and the farmers’ harvest is reflected in a rich variety of colors on plates at local inns and on the abundantly filled market stalls.
Hikes around the lake and up to the surrounding alpine pastures promise pure enjoyment and rejuvenate body, mind, and soul. The month of December leads us into the quietest time of the year – Advent. In the towns of St. Gilgen, Strobl and St. Wolfgang, the Wolfgangsee Advent opens its doors at the end of November.
