Mike Clegg & Ben Green

Explorers in SalzburgerLand

Ben Green and Mike Clegg have the most beautiful accent in the world, as they are indeed both from England. Ben lives near London while Mike moved some time ago to Vienna. Both are passionate photographers and spent a weekend discovering Zell am See-Kaprun.

Ben is a real fidgeter. Whenever possible, he grabs his camera and makes his way outdoors. “There is nothing more beautiful for me than to discover new places. Such as climbing a mountain to see what waits for me on the other side”, enthuses the Englishman. Together with Mike, he made his way on a journey through SalzburgerLand. And these two were severely impressed.

The world through the lens

“As a photographer, I have to force myself not to always look through the lens but sometimes to put away the camera, to take a deep breath and enjoy the nature”, says Mike. This is understandable because in Zell am See-Kaprun they discovered some really nice places. Especially the Sigmund-Thun Gorge really got to them. Every bend of the impressive gorge is a motif in itself, and each waterfall a reason to setup the tripod. Mike simply couldn’t believe “how beautiful is this gorge.” After they had made the ascent, another natural highlight opened up – the Gorge Lake.

Back to nature

Ben and Mike mostly prefer to shoot landscapes. The most beautiful images make it onto their Instagram channels. There, they take their fans along with them on their travels – in the United States, Thailand or Belgium. And the most important thing in the photos? In hindsight, just do not change too much. That’s why the two take all the time in world to set filters and look for the perfect spot. In Zell am See-Kaprun, these photography pros were spoilt for choice. Why are they repeatedly drawn to shooting in nature? Mike had an instant answer ready:

A perfect moment in nature for me is, when you arrive at a place and it is completely outside of anything that you could ever have imagined.

How did these two get to where they are today?

Photography has always been an important part of Mike and Ben’s life. Both love to travel and join forces again and again with other photographers to explore exciting new places; and to photograph these for posterity and for their fans. On their Instagram channels @mikecleggphoto and @bengreenphotography, they share their highlights and favourite pictures.

What were their highlights in SalzburgerLand?

“Most definitely the Sigmund Thun Gorge and the Kitzsteinhorn Mountain.” In half an hour, one leaves the valley and goes up to the summit, where it is winter from September to July. And even if London and Vienna are great, vibrant cities, there is one thing they cannot offer – the view, the smell of fresh air, and the sounds of nature. For this reason alone, SalzburgerLand is well worth a visit.

Mike Clegg & Ben Green – the second trip

After exploring Zell am See-Kaprun in autumn, Mike and Ben came back to the area in the wintertime. This time they went snow shoe hiking, found nice photo spots at the Klammsee Lake and went for a helicopter sightseeing flight.
