The farm garden – our natural pharmacy
Unken, TEH Natural Factory
The TEH practitioner Regina, shows you some plants that can be found in every farm garden, such as lemon balm, calendula, chamomile, lavender and peppermint. Together, a calendula ointment is made and ointment production is discussed in general, so that you can cook a lavender or chamomile ointment yourself at home, for example. In addition, there is an introduction to tea blends and how are they put together? Each of you will create your own tea blend of approx. 15g and you can take them home with you. This program is for adults and children from the age of 10 who want to make a natural remedy themselves.

Poma Miranda” – Pears & Apple Exhibition, Thalgau
At the largest Austrian fruit variety exhibition “Poma Miranda” from 10th to 12th September in Thalgau, more than 1,500 different varieties, which were carefully produced by Dr. Bernhard Iglhauser, can be admired. The Thalgau Land Youth will provide refreshments. Admission: € 4. free for children and teenagers. The first-class fruit will be offered for sale after the exhibition on Sunday. This beautiful fruit exhibition will be opened on Friday evening at the ceremony by Federal Minister Leonore Gewessler and Governor Dr. Wilfried Haslauer. The band GRENZ/WERTIG will prove how tradition and zeitgeist can be musically perfectly combined on Saturday evening at the “mostMUSIK” festival. The 3-day fruity event ends comfortably on Sunday at the traditional farmers’ market of the Thalgau Farmers Association on the village square.

Seenland Garten-Roas, Salzburg Lake District
What could be more beautiful than being enchanted by the pretty farm gardens and herb gardens in the picturesque hilly landscape around the Wallersee, Mattsee, Obertrumer See and Grabensee lakes? Not for nothing is it said that a garden opens up a view of paradise. So, what could be more obvious than a “Garden Roas” in Salzburg’s Lake District, also possible as a bike tour, – “From herb garden to herb garden” on Sunday 5th September 2021.
In “Zaungesprächen” Monika Bayerl revives memories of her childhood garden, while wild bee expert Anita Himmer talks about the necessity of biodiversity and Eleonora Forster-Litzlhammer reveals her 10-minute recipes for natural cosmetics. The dream garden Tannberg is managed in the way that farmers managed it a century ago. At Café Plainer in Straßwalchen, the BIONALE exhibition presents the people behind the local food from the region.

Herb garden and farmer’s garden tour with herbal vinegar production, Hollersbach
More than 500 different plant species and varieties can be found in the Hollersbach herb garden. Starting by discovering the “Herbal Sun”, the “Herb Star”, the “Herb Moon”, the “Celtic Wheel” and the “Bauerngartl” as well as lots more on the subject of herbs. From the end of May to mid-October, a guided tour of the herb garden with herbal vinegar production takes place every Tuesday (except public holidays) at 4.00 pm. Duration: approx. 2 hours.
Contribution to expenses for guided tour and herbal vinegar production (to “take home”): € 5 per person, free for children. Individual guided tours possible at any time on request.

Wild herb garden tour, Hochkönig region
Discover the diversity of plants in the Hochkönig region. During the wild herb garden tour in Maria Alm you will learn interesting facts about identifying features and use of the herbs in the kitchen and folk medicine. Together with the herbalist Rosi Rainer, herbs and flowers are collected and colourful herbal salts are made from them. Duration: approx. 2 hours. Pre-registration required. Guided tour through the herb garden at the adventure farm in Faistenau

All products from the kitchen, garden & beehive are processed into natural cosmetics or delicious dishes! Farmer Brigitta Klaushofer shows you how it works. Initially, the herbs, either wild herbs or those from the farmer’s herb garden, are collected and this specialist gives her technical explanations for use and for further processing. These are then either placed in oil or processed immediately. Depending on your wishes, special natural cosmetics can be made or delicious herbal menus can be served. Mrs. Klaushofer is on hand with help and advice, and also gives interesting tips and tricks. Pre-registration is absolutely necessary by 10:00 a.m. at the latest, minimum number of participants is 8 people, costs depending on material costs!

Herb hikes

You walk along a marked hiking trail and encounter wild herbs and berries, while Manuela tells you all about the effects of the herbs according to folk medicine. She also shows you how to determine the plants and how to collect them. Herb hikes require a touch of common sense, in that you should be responsible in case of any allergies or intolerances you have and everyone’s own safety lies with themself.
