As soon as the days get shorter in autumn and the lush grass on the mountain pastures runs out, the time of the cattle drives begins. This is when the animals return from the mountain pastures to the valley – an event known as the ‘Almabtrieb’. In the valley, guests and locals eagerly await this arrival and celebrate it with a traditional, colourful farmers’ autumn festival. If the alpine summer has passed without incident, the cows are festively adorned and decorated with colourful decorations.
