AUSTRIA’S LARGEST BIKE REGION

SAALBACH HINTERGLEMM LEOGANG FIEBERBRUNN

The name is the game. Austria's largest bike region delivers what it promises. Over 90 kilometres of lines & trails, 9 cable cars on 7 mountains, 3 large Learn to Ride Parks for kids and beginners, alpine gravel routes for every taste and a limitless mountain bike trail network for all fitness levels. A playground for bikers of all genres.

Lines & trails as varied as the three places they connect, a mountain bike trail network whose limits are only set by your own fitness level and alpine gravel routes that are hard to beat in their diversity. This is Austria’s largest bike region! 90 kilometres of lines & trails, 9 cable cars on 7 mountains with one ticket! Flowy lines with playful features, world championship-proven downhill routes in the Epic Bikepark Leogang and blocked trails for technically experienced enduro riders make Austria’s largest bike region the most laid-back playground in the Alps.

RIDERS PLAYGROUND – BEGINNERS PARKS IN EACH OF THE LOCATIONS

But this trail variety is not just reserved for hobby bikers and the international world elite. Beginners and mini-shredders can try out the 10,000 m² Learn to Ride Park in Saalbach, the equally large Riders Playground in Leogang including pump tracks and Gopro Bagjump or the Easy Park Obingleiten in Fieberbrunn (closed in 2024 due to construction work – look forward to 2025). There you can slowly get to grips with the family-friendly routes. The unlimited gravel and asphalt kilometres in the entire region offer almost unlimited possibilities on two-wheelers of all genres.

GRAVELING

Gravel biking is much more than just a discipline – it’s a lifestyle. Whether touring, fast off-road laps on gravel roads and forest tracks or leisurely exploratory tours: gravel biking always promises a special experience. The region, which until now has largely been known as a mountain bike destination, is turning out to be an absolute insider tip for this trend sport. But what actually distinguishes gravel bikers from racing cyclists? While road bikers are confined to tarmac roads, the less aggressive geometry and tyre tread of a gravel bike means freedom, riding fun, adventure and experiencing nature away from busy roads. The area around Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn is a true alpine gravel road paradise with an infinite variety of touring options.

OUR HIGHLIGHTS

SCHOOL BIKE COURSES

Saalbach Hinterglemm is known far beyond the region’s borders as a centre for school ski courses, as the education and sporting activities of young people is a major concern in the region. Innovative school bike courses are now being offered to inspire pupils to take part in sporting activities and have fun in the great outdoors outside of winter too. A completely new and innovative concept was presented by the Saalbach Hinterglemm Tourist Board together with the Lower Austrian Directorate of Education at a recent teacher training programme attended by around 500 teachers.

THE CHALLENGE – BIKE YOUR LIMIT

This is the name of the new challenge in Austria’s largest bike region that only the best can complete. Who can ride the entire area around Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn in one day? Seven mountains have to be conquered in ‘THE CHALLENGE’ with the help of seven mountain railways. Get ready for pure trail fun in Saalbach Hinterglemm and challenging bike park lines in Leogang. However, Fieberbrunn, known for its pleasure biking, will make your calves burn on this tour.  The challenge normally also includes the Schweinestberg Trail in Fieberbrunn, which was newly built in 2022. This year, however, it can only be reached after an uphill section with an elevation gain of around 400 metres, as the Streuböden cable car is being rebuilt. Therefore, successful participation in THE CHALLENGE this year is also possible without the Schweinestberg Trail.

THE FAIRY LINE ON THE SCHATTBERG

Things are happening on the Schattberg! Since last summer, riders looking for a change from the technical X-Line can look forward to the new fAIRy Line! As flowy as the Panorama Line, but with a little more airtime and as romantic as in fairyland.

EXCITING TOURING OPTIONS IN FIEBERBRUNN: HOCHÖRNDLER HÜTTE AND HOAMETZL RUNDE

In addition to the trails on offer, Fieberbrunn is an insider tip for leisure bikers. The ‘Hochhörndler Hütte 2020’ tour can be tackled by all enthusiastic bikers. The starting point of the tour is the Gasthof Eiserne Hand in Fieberbrunn. From here, you pass the ‘Schreiende Brunnen’, a small waterfall, via the Hörndliger Graben to the Hochhörndler Hütte. The medium-difficulty tour runs for 6.3 kilometres along a forest road and climbs 740 metres in altitude. Once at the top, not only a marvellous view of the mountains awaits, but also a regional snack for all bikers!

Another highlight is the bike route to the Hoametzl hut. The tour starts between the two regions of Fieberbrunn and Leogang – a perfect opportunity to take a ride up the connecting route between Fieberbrunn and Leogang. From Hochfilzen, the ‘Hoametzl Runde 2015’ runs along a tarmac road and then steadily uphill along a gravelled forest path to the Hoametzl hut. The motto here is to stop off and enjoy. After briefly relaxing your calves, it’s time to ‘bite through’ a few more metres of altitude before you reach the highest point and the descent begins. This tour is also marked as moderately difficult and climbs 280 metres in altitude over 8.5 kilometres.
