Winter Holiday in the Wildkogel-Arena
The Wildkogel Arena ski area, officially classified as snow-secure from December to Easter (GeoSphere Austria), offers 75 kilometres of perfectly groomed slopes – ideal for families, beginners and those returning to the sport, with 85% of the runs rated blue or red. At 2,100 metres above sea level, you can look forward to a true winter wonderland at the Wildkogel, right in the heart of the Hohe Tauern National Park holiday region, complete with sweeping views across the surrounding three-thousand-metre peaks.
Kids can dive straight into the fun: wave tracks and banked turns in the Funslope, small jumps and boxes in the Family Park, a warm welcome from the mascots Kogel-Mogel and Kogel-Mia, and of course their very own Skimovie as a souvenir. And whenever you’re ready for a break, the cosy mountain huts serve regional dishes and timeless Alpine favourites.
On the world’s longest illuminated toboggan run, an unforgettable adventure awaits: 14 winding kilometres lead you swiftly from the Wildkogel down to Bramberg – perfectly lit until 10:00 p.m. This evening toboggan experience is an absolute highlight!
Guided snowshoe hikes open up the winter wonderland of the Wildkogel Arena for you – relaxed or sporty, depending on your mood. Especially impressive are the ranger-led tours with experts from the Hohe Tauern National Park, who share fascinating insights into the region’s nature, wildlife and landscapes.
Another absolute must in winter is the wildlife feeding experience: from a safe distance, you can watch red deer in their natural habitat – a captivating encounter with nature for the whole family.
If you prefer exploring on foot, you can enjoy the tranquillity of perfectly groomed winter walking trails, both in the mountains and in the valley. Or you might choose a romantic horse-drawn sleigh ride through the snowy scenery.
One thing is certain: anyone who spends their winter holiday in the Wildkogel Arena is sure to fall under the spell of this magical snowy region.

Hiking and biking
The valleys of the Hohe Tauern National Park also invite long excursions: treasure hunters are drawn along the Smaragdweg into Bramberg’s Habachtal for emerald mining, while true wilderness fans can explore the pristine Untersulzbachtal on ranger-led hikes or head along the Venedigerweg into the Obersulzbachtal.
With the Neukirchen & Bramberg guest card, buggies and child carriers can be borrowed free of charge on-site – perfect for families. Mountain bikers and e-bikers will find a true two-wheeled paradise in the National Park valleys as well as in the sunny side valleys of Mühlbachtal, Dürnbachtal, and Trattenbachtal, full of stunning natural scenery. And for those who love both, combining cycling and hiking makes for unforgettable “Bike & Hike” adventures.
Family Highlights
Families will find plenty of exciting discoveries in the Wildkogel Arena. Right at the mountain station, the large wooden playground of the Kogel-Mogel Adventure Arena, with its many creative play stations, invites children to let off steam. A real highlight is the Slide Trail: slides up to 53 metres long lead from the Wildkogelbahn middle station down to the Gasthof Stockenbaum – an experience that delights kids and adults alike. From there, the new Adler-Toni Trail continues with 11 lovingly designed stations towards the center of Neukirchen.
