A Church as European Protection Zone

In the area around St. Georgen there are no less than ten chapels, numerous wayside shrines, weather crosses and wonderful churches. Among these is the decanal church of St. Georg which boasts something special, alongside its amazing frescoes. In the ceiling’s wooden beams a large colony of bats nests all year round to bring their babies into the world. This is why the church has been classified as a European Protection Zone.
