Ramingstein: Recreation and adventure along three borders
Ramingstein: Recreation and adventure along three borders

In summer enjoy extended walks in the stunning surroundings or try your hand at canoeing and rafting. A special highlight is the Legends and Myths bike trail along the clear Mur river.

In winter the Ramingstein-Karneralm region invites you for pristine snow pleasure. The snowy landscape is loved by both Ski Touring fans and Snowshoeing fans. Also when visitng Ramingstein, don't pass up the chance for a romantic winter hike.

The small holiday resort of Ramingstein is located to the South-East of Salzburg. This idyllic town is located in the border triangle between Salzburg, Styria and Carinthia. Located directly on the Murradweg this friendly community is an ideal starting point for pleasant cycling tours, long walks and mountain tours for every taste. Very nice but also creepy is the Castle Finstergrün and a visit to the Ezrwege in Ramingstein is particularly exciting.

Insider tips in Ramingstein:

  • Caution Ghost: the Castle Finstergrün is the landmark of the Ramingstein resort. A visit to the three castle courtyards allows a panoramic view of the Mur Valley. On the Castle, which can be booked as accommodation, weddings and events regularly take place. The Castle Ghost “Finsterling” is not disturbed by all this.
  • A Railway ride for the whole family: the historic Mur Valley Railway is a real experience – at a leisurely pace it has taken guests on a ride through the Lungau since 1894.
  • Shining tour: the Ramingstein Silver Mine is the only still accessible mine in the Lungau region. Here silver was mined up until 200 years ago. Today, guided tours are held in the mine upon registration.
  • In the footsteps of the Ore: From the 15th to the 18th Century this community was known for its mining. Hiking trails such as the Altenberg, Kendlbruck, and Dürnrain lead to silent quarries and an ancient blast furnace.
