Lofer is located just an hour’s drive from the Mozart city of Salzburg and is the smallest but also the most populous of the four towns in the Salzburger Saalachtal area. This holiday town is surrounded by an impressive mountain panorama: the Loferer and Reither Stone Mountains as well as the foothills of the Chiemgau Alps. These mountains invite you to explore – by ski and snowboard in winter and on foot or by bike in summer.
The mountain pasture world of Lofer is a paradise for hikers, bikers and families in summer!
With the new 8-seater cable car you can go up over 630m from the town centre to the 1,000 metre high Loderbichl and directly to the starting point of the adventure hiking trail “Auf die Alm” with 12 stations along impressive waterfalls. The 6-seater cable car also takes you up to airy heights, directly into the Lofer mountain pasture world at 1,350 metres above sea level; and seven hiking trails with beautiful summit views start here. Bikers use the cable cars as energy-saving tools and find biking route connections to Waidring/Steinplatte, the Winklmoosalm and to Unken/Heutal. On the Schönbühel at 1,600 metres above sea level, there’s a new, worthwhile hiking destination: the 1,700m² Red Marmorsee can easily be reached from the fairy tale forest trail no. 4.
Winter sports fans will find on the Lofer Alpine World 10 cable cars and lifts, as well as 46km of slopes.
In recent years, this ski area has received top marks in the category of family-friendliness in several ski area tests. For kids, there is a 140m long, covered “magic carpet” (conveyor belt) and the “mountain world circular trail” available. Here there is also the high cross-country ski trail that leads over a four kilometre long route right through the middle of the enchanting mountain pasture world. The “Lo-Fi” FUNLINE ensures exciting adventures for Freeriders and Boarders along the family express lifts.
