Four lakes belong to the Salzburg Lake District “Salzburger Seenland“. Around the largest and warmest of these bathing lakes are lined many idyllic villages. Such as Henndorf am Wallersee. Henndorf am Wallersee is the right address for all water lovers, cyclists and golfers, for cool surfers and passionate sailors, hikers and camping enthusiasts.
In summer, life takes place in Henndorf right on Lake Wallersee. Already in the morning after breakfast a swim in the lake, later a mountain tour on the Steinwandl and in the evening enjoyable meals on the lakeside terrace.
In winter, snowy winter hiking trails invite you for a romantic walk. Along the frozen Wallersee lake or through the Aiderbichl estate, which is steeped in Advent. Hiking:
Enjoy the delightful panoramic views over the lakes to the Alps, whilst walking along the lakeside or over the Buchberg, Haunsberg and Tannberg hills.
- Hiking trail around the Mattsee:
Work clockwise around the lake, past the beach, on foot or per bicycle in direction of Upper Austria. After the Überfuhr bus stop take the narrow footpath on the right through the woods to the lake shore. Keep going along this path, past the camping site to the hamlet of Aug . Continue along the northern banks through the nature reserve to the village of Gebertsham. In summer, a quick dip in the lake and on to visit the church in Gebertsham. There are magnificent views from here over the lake to Mattsee with the Alps in the background. The path then leads southwards through the woods to Ramoos and finally along the shore to the Weyerallee and Mattsee centre. Here you are back where you started – at the Tourist Office. - Haunsberg panorma path:
The way of the “beautiful looks” with adventure stations for children. Take a walk along the Haunsberg hill with its beautiful, panoramic views. The route starts at the Gasthof Kaiserbuche on top of the Hausberg, (car park). It is an easily accessible and gentle circular path (5 km), which takes about 1,5 hours. En route you can see all the lakes, into the Salzkammergut lakes and mountains district, to the Osterhorn group of the Alps, the city of Salzburg, the northern limestone Alps with the Untersberg, Watzmann and Hohenstauffen, the Salzachtal and also the bavarian prealpine area between Laufen and Tittmoning. - Devil´s Gorge Seeham:
Take the road to the car park from Matzing in direction of the High Rope Park (Hochseilpark). Visitors to the Devil’s Gorge are confronted with a mystical and mythological world. Walking time: 2 hours, – distance 2,5 km. Open at any time – guide not necessary. - Grabensee Hiking Trail:
Starting at the church in Perwang take the road (P3) to Rödhausen. At Hinterrödhausen the trail turns south to reach the Grabensee .Continue along the shore, through the protected forest area until Zellhof and then on to Fraham, where you can take a break at a local inn. Turning northward, via Gransdorf, you eventually reach the starting point. Walking time: approx. 2,5 hours

Gut Aiderbichl:
A very popular tourist destination is GUT AIDERBICHL. This wildlife haven is home to rescued animals, which can be visited in the open farm and stroked.
Literaturhaus Henndorf:
The well-known author, Carl Zuckmayer, lived and worked alt the “Literaturhaus Henndorf” and wrote that „ he had once „lived in Paradise!“ – His works, „Der Schinderhannes“ and „Hauptmann von Köpernick“ were also written here in Henndorf.
