One highlight is already certain: Ryder Cup winner Sepp Straka will tee off at the second edition of the tournament, giving his fans the long-awaited home game. His participation underlines the international significance of the event, strengthens domestic golf in the long term and at the same time ensures significantly increased international visibility. The presence of a world-class player like Straka puts the tournament more firmly in the spotlight of the global golf community.
Leo Bauernberger, Managing Director of SalzburgerLand Tourismus GmbH, emphasises the importance of such sporting events for the economy and tourism: “This tournament is an investment in the future of summer tourism. In addition to the strong winter ski season, we also need premium sporting events in a global sport during the summer months. The images from the tournament at the Gut Altentann Golf Club, which were broadcast to almost 200 countries worldwide, speak for themselves. With the DP World Tour, we are strengthening summer and year-round tourism in the SalzburgerLand. Golf guests bring above-average added value – they enjoy not only the game, but also culture and cuisine.”
The Austrian Alpine Open is held every two years, alternating between the SalzburgerLand and Tyrol. After stopping in Kitzbühel in 2026, the tournament will return to Gut Altentann in 2027.
With the continuation in Kitzbühel in 2026, the Austrian Alpine Open is sending a strong signal for regional cooperation between the SalzburgerLand and Tyrol – and for the Alpine region as an attractive year-round destination that impressively combines sport, business and tourism.
