Accessibility Statement
Declaration on accessibility
We, SalzburgerLand Tourismus GmbH, endeavour to make our website accessible in accordance with the Accessibility Act as amended to implement the European Accessibility Directive (Directive 2019/882) on the accessibility requirements for products and services.
Due to the following incompatibilities and exceptions, this website is partially compliant with conformity level AA of the ‘Web Content Accessibility Guidelines Web – WCAG 2.1’ in accordance with the applicable harmonised European standard ‘European Standard EN 301 549 V3.2.1 (2022.08)’.
Non-accessible content
The contents listed below are not barrier-free for the following reasons:
Incompatibility with accessibility regulations:
- There are linked images and icons that have no alternative text. This means that the links also have no link text.
- There are information-bearing images and icons that have no reasonable alternative text.
- There are decorative images that have an alternative text.
- The videos used on our websites are currently not fully accessible. The adaptation represents a disproportionate burden in terms of accessibility regulations.
- We endeavour to write our texts largely without abbreviations and foreign words. We also avoid cumbersome sentence structure. If you find a text difficult to understand and therefore only partially accessible, please contact us. We will endeavour to provide you with a version that is easy to understand.
- The input field of the filter is only labelled Placeholder. Placeholder is not a substitute for correct labelling, as the placeholder is not reliably read out by screen readers. The input field should be labelled correctly.
- There are information-bearing icons that have been displayed using CSS and have no text alternative. As a result, only empty links or buttons are read out by the screen reader. If CSS is also switched off or overwritten, nothing is visible. The icons need a text alternative.
- The large view of the images is not accessible; this is replaced by an external tool that fulfils the WCAG requirements.
- In <main>, <section> and <article> are also used. Both <section> and <article> are unnecessary here and semantically not quite correct.
- Certain headings look like headings but are not labelled as such. These should be labelled with <h2>.
- Some of the headings have bold text underneath, such as ‘Come by train! It is better and semantically correct if these texts are labelled with <p>.
- The date picker and the “Adults” select box in the booking form cannot be operated using a screen reader.
- As soon as only the text zoom is activated, a lot of content is cut off and there are also overlaps
- When applying text spacing to WCAG specifications, overlaps and overlapping occur
- Tab focus is not clearly recognisable – invisible tab stops occasionally occur.
- The content was additionally grouped with <section> – this causes the screen reader to read out more than recommended.
- If the browser window is only 320px wide, additional texts are not displayed for certain teasers – even with such a narrow window, there should be no loss of information.
- Status messages, which indicate that no entries or results have been found, should be labelled with role= ‘status’.
- For certain content with filter options, the filter term cannot be deleted using the keyboard.
- The focus order for the display options on the ‘All locations’ page is not entirely logical and should be adjusted.
- If you enter something in the search and press Enter, the filter is automatically set and the locations are filtered. There should be a search or filter button here or the behaviour should be pointed out.
- Links were used for the sorting and display options. Semantically, however, these are buttons. Either <button> should be used here or <a> role=”button” should be set.
- The filter is some kind of self-made button. This was only implemented with <div> and <span> and has no role. As a result, screen readers do not read out any meta information for the filter.
- Maps have no alternative text. E.g. Map: Mittersill is surrounded by mountains in the Salzach valley south of Kitzbühel. Mittersill belongs to the district of Zell am See. You would have to create an input option for the text, which would then also have to be maintained. A generic text such as “Location of <POI> on Google Maps” would be simpler
- Galleries were not grouped with <ul> – should generally always be grouped with <ul>.
- If the browser window is only 320px wide, the x button is missing when the map is enlarged. The map is also displayed incorrectly. Even if the browser window is only 320px wide, there should be no loss of information or functionality.
- The links under Contact should have more vertical space (from link centre to link centre at least 24px).
- Spam protection / Recaptcha: We need a so-called “Re-Captcha” function for our contact forms to protect against spam and mass e-mails. This is not barrier-free. If you are unable to use a form due to this function, please send us an e-mail to info@salzburgerland.com
We are endeavouring to correct the errors by the end of 2025. In addition, we are already aiming for WCAG 2.2 conformance level AA during implementation.
Notes: Word and PDF documents that are not accessible are available for download on the website. If you need help with non-accessible PDF documents, please contact info@salzburgerland.com. In this case, we will endeavour to make the content available to you in a suitable manner as far as possible.
Disproportionate burden:
For economic and organisational reasons, it is currently not yet possible to make older PDF documents and Office documents (etc.) accessible. Furthermore, it is not possible to provide the videos in sign language.
These contents do not fall within the scope of the applicable legal provisions:
Older documents and content that are not accessible are available on the website. As these were published before 28 June 2025, they are exempt from the Accessibility Act and no comprehensive changes are currently planned for them.
The website contains documents and content from third-party providers that are neither developed, financed nor controlled by us. No statement can be made regarding the compatibility of this third-party content with the accessibility regulations and it is therefore also exempt from the requirements of the Accessibility Act.
These include, for example, the provider Staymate OG, which provides our holiday planner MakeMyStay, the provider Goodguys GmbH, which offers the AI concierge / AI chatbot Amadeus. In addition, there are masks and views in the so-called TOSC5 (View Event, Infrastructures, Companies), which are the responsibility of feratel media technologies AG. The Feratel accessibility declaration is available at this link. These companies are responsible for this and endeavour to make the applications offered as accessible as possible.
Preparation of the accessibility declaration
As the foreign-language websites use the same CMS (content management system) called WordPress as the German website and therefore the modules, display options etc. are very similar and these were evaluated by Dipl.-Ing. Gerhard Nussbaum from KI I (Kompetenznetzwerk Informationstechnologie zur Förderung der Integration von Menschen mit Behinderungen) in accordance with WCAG 2.2 AA and EN 301 549 V3.2.1, it was possible to carry out a self-evaluation here and the open points also count here.
Our website is constantly being improved. Usability and accessibility are very important to us. If you encounter any barriers on our website that hinder or restrict your use, please let us know at the following e-mail address: info@salzburgerland.com
In this case, please briefly describe the problem and provide the URL of the website or document concerned. We will check your enquiry and contact you as soon as possible.
