Accessibility Statement

Declaration on accessibility

We, SalzburgerLand Tourismus GmbH, endeavour to make our website accessible in accordance with the Accessibility Act as amended to implement the European Accessibility Directive (Directive 2019/882) on the accessibility requirements for products and services.
Due to the following incompatibilities and exceptions, this website is partially compliant with conformity level AA of the ‘Web Content Accessibility Guidelines Web – WCAG 2.1’ in accordance with the applicable harmonised European standard ‘European Standard EN 301 549 V3.2.1 (2022.08)’.

Non-accessible content

The contents listed below are not barrier-free for the following reasons:

Incompatibility with accessibility regulations:

  • As the logos are linked, the alternative text becomes the link text. This should describe the link destination, which has not yet been fully implemented.
  • The videos used on our websites are not currently fully accessible. We are working on an automated solution using the API key to populate the content. The subtitles have been extensively populated and should be available with a few exceptions.
  • Audio description: Some of the videos embedded on this website currently do not have audio description or additional textual media alternatives that describe the visual content. Some of these videos are embedded via the external platform YouTube. As this involves third-party content, we have only limited influence over the technical implementation or subsequent addition of audio descriptions. We are monitoring developments on the platform and will examine and implement appropriate opportunities to improve accessibility, provided this is technically and organisationally feasible.
  • We endeavour to write our texts largely without abbreviations or foreign words. We also avoid convoluted sentence structures. If you find a text difficult to understand and therefore consider it only partially accessible, please contact us. We will endeavour to provide you with an easily understandable version.
  • As soon as text zoom is enabled, much of the content is cut off and elements overlap
  • When applying text spacing in accordance with WCAG guidelines, elements overlap and cover one another
  • Maps lack alternative text. E.g. Map: Mittersill is situated in the Salzach Valley, south of Kitzbühel, surrounded by mountains. Mittersill belongs to the district of Zell am See. This would require creating a text input field, which would then also need to be maintained. A simpler solution would be generic text such as “Location of <POI> on Google Maps”
  • Spam protection / reCAPTCHA: To protect against spam and bulk emails, we require a so-called “reCAPTCHA” function for our contact forms. This is not accessible. If you are unable to use a form due to this function, please send us an email at info@salzburgerland.com
  • This website uses some English terms and names (e.g. “Sound of Music”). These terms are internationally established names, brands or thematic designations and cannot always be translated into German in a meaningful or unambiguous way. Nevertheless, we take care to present content as clearly as possible and to explain key information within the context.

We are endeavouring to correct the errors by the end of 2026. In addition, we are already aiming for WCAG 2.2 conformance level AA during implementation.

Notes: Word and PDF documents that are not accessible are available for download on the website. If you need help with non-accessible PDF documents, please contact info@salzburgerland.com. In this case, we will endeavour to make the content available to you in a suitable manner as far as possible.

Disproportionate burden:

For economic and organisational reasons, it is currently not yet possible to make older PDF documents and Office documents (etc.) accessible. Furthermore, it is not possible to provide the videos in sign language.

These contents do not fall within the scope of the applicable legal provisions:

Older documents and content that are not accessible are available on the website. As these were published before 28 June 2025, they are exempt from the Accessibility Act and no comprehensive changes are currently planned for them.

The website contains documents and content from third-party providers that are neither developed, financed nor controlled by us. No statement can be made regarding the compatibility of this third-party content with the accessibility regulations and it is therefore also exempt from the requirements of the Accessibility Act.

These include, for example, the provider Staymate OG, which provides our holiday planner MakeMyStay, the provider Goodguys GmbH, which offers the AI concierge / AI chatbot Amadeus. In addition, there are masks and views in the so-called TOSC5 (View Event, Infrastructures, Companies), which are the responsibility of feratel media technologies AG. The Feratel accessibility declaration is available at this link. These companies are responsible for this and endeavour to make the applications offered as accessible as possible.

Preparation of the accessibility declaration

As the foreign-language websites use the same CMS (content management system) called WordPress as the German website and therefore the modules, display options etc. are very similar and these were evaluated by Dipl.-Ing. Gerhard Nussbaum from KI I (Kompetenznetzwerk Informationstechnologie zur Förderung der Integration von Menschen mit Behinderungen) in accordance with WCAG 2.2 AA and EN 301 549 V3.2.1, it was possible to carry out a self-evaluation here and the open points also count here.

Our website is constantly being improved. Usability and accessibility are very important to us. If you encounter any barriers on our website that hinder or restrict your use, please let us know at the following e-mail address: info@salzburgerland.com

In this case, please briefly describe the problem and provide the URL of the website or document concerned. We will check your enquiry and contact you as soon as possible.
