The Zell am See-Kaprun region lies in the midst of beautiful SalzburgerLand. The heart of the region are its two communities, Zell am See and Kaprun.
The picturesque town of Zell am See has been officially recognized for its healthful climate since 1961 and lies at the foot of the Schmitten. It combines the benefits of a small town with an array of holiday highlights, including lake Zeller See and the nearby ski areas. Kaprun lies below a striking mountain, the Kitzsteinhorn. It is here that, from May until October, you can indulge your love for winter sports in the glacier ski area at around 3,000 meters above sea level.
Zell am See-Kaprun: fun in the snow and water
Lake Zeller See is perfectly suited for sports on the ice and in the water. In winter, you can let your skates slice across the glistening ice. And in summer, with the mountains before your eyes, you can spend a truly extraordinary vacation in, on and next to the water. The variety of this region is impressive: hiking, cycling, golf, Nordic walking and much, much more in summer. In winter, the focus turns to winter sports, with
an especially long season due to the glacier. Even in early summer and autumn, some of the glacier slopes are open. What an enticing prospect: first gliding across the packed snow, then jumping into the waters of the Zeller See. Truly unique!
The region's newest highlights include the TAUERN SPA as well as Summit World 3000. At the TAUERN SPA, you can truly unwind in the in- and outdoor pools, relax in the saunas, as well as enjoy massages and
other therapeutic treatments. At Summit World 3000, you are treated to wonderful views of 30 alpine giants, including Austria's highest mountain, the Grossglockner. In the Cinema 3000, visitors can learn all about
mountain flora and fauna, whilst in the National Park Gallery you can experience the diversity of Hohe Tauern National Park
to the full. When you are ready to recharge your batteries, the summit restaurant promises a
wonderful selection of culinary specialties, along with the magnificent panorama of Austria's alpine world.

September revolves around Harvest Festival: Once a week, the region holds a farmers' market on the town square in Zell.
On September 4, 2011, the town will be hosting celebrations with live music on the Salzburger Platz in Kaprun, as well as a traditional mountain festival on the Schmittenhöhe at 2,000m above sea level. Things get started at 10 am.
The culinary highlight is undoubtedly the always-popular cheese festival: From 12 to 18 September, 2011, visitors in Kaprun will be able to sample the best of the region's cheeses, as well as to attend cheese seminars. The delicious treats of this sixth edition of the festival also include wine, beer and bread.
As part of the Harvest Festival package in Zell am See-Kaprun, our guests can watch bread and cheese being made, and enjoy farm-fresh products right there on the farm.
