The bike shuttle is expected to run again until the end of October 2026.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>29.07.2025:<\/p>\n<p>\ud83d\udea7 <strong>Important Information about the Tauern Cycle Path near Wei\u00dfbach\/Lofer<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The <strong>Tauern Cycle Path is currently closed<\/strong> between <strong>Frohnwies and the Diesbach power station<\/strong> due to <strong>danger of falling rocks<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Starting <strong>Tuesday, July 30<\/strong>, a <strong>free shuttle bus<\/strong> will run as a replacement.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\ud83d\ude8c <strong>Shuttle Information<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The shuttle operates <strong>every 30 minutes starting at 8:30 AM<\/strong> (with a <strong>midday break<\/strong>). Timetable: <span>\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/salzburg-verkehr.at\/downloads\/radshuttle-b311-weissbach-gemeindeamt-diesbach\/\">www.salzburg-verkehr.at\/downloads\/radshuttle-b311-weissbach-gemeindeamt-diesbach\/<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Route: <strong>Wei\u00dfbach Gemeindeamt \u2194 Diesbach<\/strong> (regular stops)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Travel time: about 4 minutes<\/strong>, plus about <strong>10 minutes for loading\/unloading bikes<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Room for <strong>19 passengers<\/strong> and <strong>around 15 bikes<\/strong> (depending on bike size)<\/li>\n<li><strong>The shuttle is free of charge<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\ud83d\udccd <strong>Important Notes<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Cycling on the B311 is not allowed<\/strong> \u2013 there is now an <strong>official ban for bicycles<\/strong> on this road!<\/li>\n<li>So you must either <strong>use the shuttle bus<\/strong> or take the alternative ride:\n<ul>\n<li>Via <strong>Waidring \u2013 Hochfilzen \u2013 Leogang<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Please note: this route is about <strong>30 km longer<\/strong> and includes <strong>more elevation gain<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\ud83d\udc65 <strong>For larger groups<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Please <strong>register your travel request in advance<\/strong> with the local transport association ( <a href=\"https:\/\/salzburg-verkehr.at\/en\/\">www.salzburg-verkehr.at\/en\/<\/a> ), so everything can run smoothly.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2>Safe alternative Tauern Cycle Path route<\/h2>\n<p>24.07.2025: Due to heavy traffic on the B311, we recommend that all cyclists\u2014especially families and day trippers\u2014take the scenic alternative route (Steinberg Loop) via Waidring, Pillersee, Hochfilzen and Leogang. Although this route is more challenging (around 30 kilometers longer and 200 meters higher in altitude), it leads through quiet and beautiful regions \u2013 perfect for a relaxed tour through nature. Experienced cyclists who are familiar with road traffic can also use the local tour via the B311. However, please note the increased traffic volume. For a safe and relaxed cycling experience, we strongly recommend the alternative route for groups and families \u2013 it is not only safer, but also a real highlight of your bike tour!<\/p>\n<h2>Diversion to Wei\u00dfbach near Lofer<\/h2>\n<p>13.05.2025: <span>The closure of the Tauern Cycle Path between Frohnwies (Wei\u00dfbach near Lofer) and the Die\u00dfbach power plant (Saalfelden) remains in place. This is because the number of smaller rockfalls has steadily increased over the past few years on this 4-kilometre route.\u00a0Here, the cycle path runs directly below a steep and several hundred-metre-high rock face. Therefore, for safety reasons, it is now necessary to switch to the parallel state highway B311, on which a separate bike lane is designated in this area.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong><span>Fort Kniepass \u2013 Culture, action and culinary delights<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>09.05.2025:\u00a0<span>New from summer 2025 in Salzburg\u2019s Saalach Valley \u2013 the historic Fort Kniepass, located directly on the Tauern Cycle Path, is a destination for both young and old. This 400-year-old fortress boasts an adventure trail with 12 play stations on the theme of borders, an indoor playground and the longest and highest tube slide in Western Austria. This means unforgettable moments await between Unken and Lofer. For a healthy refreshment, the \u201cFort Kniepass Culinary\u201d rest area offers regional produce and homemade drinks. This new attraction will be open from 28<sup>th<\/sup> June 2025.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span>Info:<\/span><\/strong><span> Fort Kniepass, Niederland 169, 5091 Unken, Tel.: +43 6589 20500, www.fort-kniepass.at<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Pinzgauer Lokalbahn Zell am See-Krimml: Rail replacement service<\/h2>\n<p>12.03.2025: During the severe storms of Summer 2021, the route of the Pinzgauer Lokalbahn was partially undermined and damaged. Therefore, the railway line<strong> between Mittersill and Krimml<\/strong> is not passable until further notice, also during the summer season 2025. Between Mittersill and Krimml, a rail replacement service with buses has been set up, but they cannot take bicycles with them. There are however two exceptions here \u2013 from 01.05. to 30.09.2025, the trains\/bus connections at 15:02 and 17:02 (each from Zell am See) can each transport bikes to Krimml but only by reservation the day before (until 2:00 pm) on Tel.: +43 6562 40600 or pinzgauerlokalbahn@salzburg\u2013ag.at. Detailed timetable under <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pinzgauerlokalbahn.at\/content\/website_pinzgauerlokalbahn\/en_uk.html\">www.pinzgauerlokalbahn.at<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>An alternative bicycle transport option from Zell am See or Mittersill to Krimml is possible, for example, via <a href=\"https:\/\/www.taxi-altenberger.at\/en.php?lang=EN\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Radtaxi Altenberger<\/a>, Tel.: +43 664 4582717, <a href=\"mailto:taxi-altenberger@sbg.at\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">taxi-altenberger@sbg.at<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>New route between Bruck and Schwarzach<\/h2>\n<p>30.03.2022: After the improvements in the last two years (new village crossing Bruck, new cycle path at the Salzach Gries power plant and the newly built cycle path on the B311 between Taxenbach and Lend as a gap closure), the following section between Lend and Gigerach now runs off the main road.<\/p>\n<p>The new route leads directly over the church square in Lend on a side road and cycle path up to Gigerach at the entrance to the Gastein Valley. Here, you have an impressive view from the bridge down into the Gastein Ache gorge. Alpe Adria Cycle Path cyclists are already familiar with the following six panoramic biking kilometres via Gasthof Posauner to the compensation basin, and they are now also fully part of the Tauern Cycle Path.<\/p>\n<p>This new, 7 km long route between Lend and the compensation basin high above the Salzach Valley offers a magnificent view over the Pongau mountains to the Hochk\u00f6nig massif. The effort in tackling the ascent is more than compensated by the magnificent panorama. Holy Night!<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>In Oberndorf near Salzburg, on 24<sup>th<\/sup> December, 1818 Joseph Mohr and Franz Xaver Gruber sang \u201cSilent Night! Holy Night!\u201d for the very first time. The lyrics came from the young Salzburger Pastor, Mohr, with the melody being composed by the Upper Austrian teacher and organist, Gruber. Two hundred years later, the song is sung by some two billion people in more than 300 languages and dialects around the world. \u201cSilent Night! Holy Night!\u201d is a UNESCO World Heritage piece and world peace song, international heritage and musical heritage piece. The big anniversary was being celebrated in 2018 in many Silent Night Towns, with museum openings, special exhibitions, a new stage play and numerous events.<\/p>\n<p>Three Silent Night Towns are located directly on the Tauern Cycle Trail:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The town where it was first played \u2013 <strong>Oberndorf near Salzburg<\/strong> with the Silent Night Chapel and new Silent Night Museum.<\/li>\n<li>The salt city of <strong>Hallein<\/strong>, where Franz Xaver Gruber lived and worked for 28 years, with the newly designed Franz Xaver Gruber Platz and the new Silent Night Museum which opened in September 2018.<\/li>\n<li>And finally the <strong>City of Salzburg<\/strong>, the focal point of the national exhibition \u201c200 Years of Silent Night! Holy Night!\u201d \u2013 Austria\u2019s message of peace to the world.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.stillenacht.com\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\"
