There are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.salzburg.info\/en\/salzburg\/the-sound-of-music\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">tours <\/a>in which you can visit the many film locations. \u00a0There are walking tours where you can visit many places of interest whilst hearing about the story of the Trapp family. Such an experience will take you back in time.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Sound of Music Walk<\/h2>\n<p><span>The trail starts just as you come out of the picturesque village centre of Werfen, in Pongau, and is suitable for walkers of all abilities. The path takes you up the Gschwandtanger, one of the most beautiful viewing points, high above the village. It is also the location where <a href=\"https:\/\/www.salzburgerland.com\/en\/the-background-and-how-the-sound-of-music-became-so-popular\/\">Maria Trapp<\/a> taught the children the famous \u201cDo Re Mi\u201d song, a song to which probably half the population can sing along to. The picnic scene was also filmed here. This Alpine pasture is perhaps the most famous of all The Sound of Music <a href=\"https:\/\/www.salzburgerland.com\/en\/the-film-locations\/\">locations<\/a>, with the 900-year-old <a href=\"http:\/\/www.salzburg-burgen.at\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Hohenwerfen castle<\/a><\/span> in the background. <span>The path is lined with signposts and information boards.<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_99612\" style=\"width: 1180px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-99612\" class=\"size-1170_658 wp-image-99612\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.salzburgerland.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/werfen-sommer-burg-hohenwer-1170x596.jpg\" alt=\"\u00a9 TVB Werfen - Fortress Hohenwerfen\" width=\"1170\" height=\"596\"><p id=\"caption-attachment-99612\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">\u00a9 TVB Werfen \u2013 Fortress Hohenwerfen<\/p><\/div>\n<h2>Magical Werfen<\/h2>\n<p><span>Visit the film locations of The Sound of Music whilst enjoying spectacular views of Hohenwerfen castle. Since 2015, the 50<\/span><span>th<\/span><span> anniversary of the film, it is possible to follow in the footsteps of the Trapp family on a path which offers a close-up view of the Hohenwerfen castle. This area has served as a film location for numerous films, including the 1968 film production of Where Eagles Dare<\/span> with Richard Burton and Clint Eastwood.
