Thanks to the enormous offering of water<\/span>, the challenging river courses and impressive scenery, this sport<\/span> enjoys a huge following in SalzburgerLand<\/span>. Especially on the whipping white waters<\/span> of the Saalach River<\/span><\/a>, where you can shoot through racing rapids and glide by colossal cliffs and through narrow passes. As a result, this expanse of water<\/span> is incredibly popular, and the die-hard water sports<\/span> enthusiasts return to its banks year after year after year. Beginners can take classes to learn the necessary techniques and safety on the water<\/span>. The teams from Motion Center<\/a>, Base Camp<\/a> and Outdoor Events Pfannhauser<\/a> are happy to assist!<\/p>\n

Rafting<\/h2>\n

No doubt about it \u2013 rafting<\/span> requires teamwork. When you shoot downstream over wild rapids and through narrow cliffs everybody has to pull their weight to ensure that you keep you don\u2019t fall in! If this sounds like a lot of effort, it is. But it\u2019s also a lot of fun and gets your heart pumping. There\u2019s no better place than on many of SalzburgerLand<\/span>\u2019s rivers to see what we mean.<\/p>\n

Take a 10-metre vertical jump into the ravine<\/span>, scramble over wet<\/span> rocks, swim<\/span> and dive through a dark cave. \u00a0Professional canyoying guides will ensure you get out of the water<\/span> safely, so one thing is for sure \u2013 never do it without one!<\/p>\n

Lie on a board and be carried along by the stream\u2019s flowing currents. This sport<\/span> is great fun, and will push you to your physical limits. Needless to say, you won\u2019t want to be without your helmet, guide, wetsuit<\/span> and life jacket<\/span>.<\/p>\n

Put the wind in your sails<\/h2>\n

In the midst of the most beautiful unspoilt nature and ringed by gentle hills and imposing mountains<\/span>, 11 of the 185 lakes in the SalzburgerLand region offer up the perfect platform for sailing<\/span> and surfing. The ideal wind and weather conditions ensure that you\u2019re never without the wind in your sails.<\/p>\n

Beginners take to sailing<\/span> easily and the many sailing<\/span> schools<\/span> guarantee that they have fun whilst learning, but also learn how to sail safely. \u00a0No fear if you don\u2019t have your own boat<\/span> \u2013 you can easily hire one out, although you\u2019ll need a special A-license to prove that you can master a boat<\/span> if the going gets tough. Windsurfers<\/span> and kite surfers<\/span> will find the most excellent surfing spots and the many schools<\/span> will ensure that they don\u2019t blow off course.<\/p>\n

SalzburgerLand<\/span>\u2019s biggest and deepest lake, Wolfgangsee<\/span><\/a>, is incredibly popular for sailing<\/span>, especially during periods of cold front<\/span> and f\u00f6hn produced by the north-west and south wind. It looks back on a long tradition of the sailing\u00a0sport<\/span> and is home to, amongst numerous others, Austria<\/span>\u2019s oldest yacht club<\/span>, the UYC Wolfgangsee. Optimal westerly wind conditions make the Flachgau<\/a> lake area the perfect playground for sailors, and the warm Wallersee<\/span> and the Trummer lakes also make for a water sport<\/span>\u2019s paradise.<\/p>\n

You can let off steam<\/span> to your heart\u2019s content sailing<\/span>, surfing and kite surfing<\/span> on Lake Zell<\/span><\/a> whilst surrounded by mountains<\/span> and with a panoramic view of the Kitzsteinhorn glacier<\/span>.<\/p>\n

Professional fishermen<\/span> are at work here every day to ensure that there are the highest-quality fish \u2013 products<\/a> to fill the menus of the restaurants and market stalls in town. From the large lakes<\/span> of the Alpine foothills to smaller mountain streams, from Lake Saalach to the Lammer River<\/span>, around 90 fishable waters<\/span> in SalzburgerLand<\/span> invite you to come here to fish<\/span> for pike, grayling<\/span>, char, rainbow and brown trout<\/span>.<\/p>\n
