Those who visit the Salzkammergut meet customs and tradition on many corners. Non Solo Turisti<\/a> were thoroughly convinced by the hospitality of SalzburgerLand during their visit to the Harvest Festival in Faistenau. Marco still raves about the festive sausages and the \u2018Schotten\u2019 doughnuts days later. The girls particularly liked the traditional costume at the village festival and at the \u2018shoe slapping\u2019 show, they not only watched but also got a bit involved with their own hopping.<\/p>\n

#2 Let your soul wander on Lake Mondsee<\/h2>\n

When the Drachenwand is reflected in Lake Mondsee, it is said that one\u2019s thoughts are lost in the dark blue of the lake. Lake Mondsee is one of the most beautiful waters far and wide \u2013 and even the band Sportfreunde Stiller have already dedicated a song to it<\/a>. During their trip to the Salzkammergut, Non Solo Turisti stayed in the Hemetsberger Lake B&B<\/a>, which is located directly on the shore of Lake Mondsee. Simply wonderful!<\/p>\n

#3 Ride the Schafberg Mountain Railway<\/h2>\n

A trip on the Schafberg Mountain Railway<\/a> is a must when visiting the Salzkammergut. Since 1893, this ruby red cog railway has run from St. Wolfgang up the Schafberg Mountain and even Emperor Franz Josef was a passenger on the railway in his time. A view out of the windows of the nostalgic steam locomotive shows the turquoise blue Lake Wolfgang and a unique panoramic view of the region.<\/p>\n

One never goes home with an empty stomach after a visit to the Leitner Family in St. Wolfgang. Hungry guests can expect a delicious \u2018Brettljause\u2019 (Ploughman\u2019s) at the Dornerhof<\/a>, which leaves nothing to be desired. Ham, bacon, various cheeses, pepperoni, spreads and fresh bread \u2013 Non Solo Turisti taste their way across these regional delicacies. #5 A horse-drawn sleigh ride<\/h2>\n

\u201cAll the happiness in the world is located on the back\u2026 sorry, in the carriage of a horse.\u201d Non Solo Turisti enjoyed the picturesque landscape around Lake Mondsee at a trotting pace. Along the lake, they pass fruit trees, green meadows and old farmhouses. With big eyes, Isabella and Maya watch the dark brown mares, which snortingly show the family the region.<\/p>\n

#6 From cow to milk \u2013 visit the Aubauernhof in Mondsee<\/h2>\n

Almost every child around Lake Mondsee has tried a school milk product from the Strobl family from Lake Mondsee. For more than 20 years, this dairy farm<\/a> has supplied more than 80 schools in the area. Those who would like, can take a look at the production on this organic farm. \u201cReal Princesses and Princes from the East have already had a tour of the farm with us,\u201d says Angelika Strobl. \u201cWe are very open and anyone who wants to, can come here.\u201d Isabella and Maya were especially fond of the cows and goats, as they had never seen farm animals so up close.<\/p>\n

#7 Taste honey in Attersee<\/h2>\n

A sweet honey scent hangs in the air as Non Solo Turisti enter the Bienenhof in Attersee<\/a>. Wax candles, small honey gifts, honey gummy bears and countless other products from the in-house production are for sale in the farm shop. Marco, Felicity and the girls personally get an insight into honey production from the boss, visit the bee population and are allowed to taste the different types of honey at the end of the tour.<\/p>\n

#8 Take a cruise on Lake Attersee<\/h2>\n

A cruise is fun, a cruise is beautiful. A tour on the water definitely belongs to the many lakes of the Salzkammergut. Non Solo Turisti take a small steamer across Lake Attersee<\/a>, with the starting and ending point at Seewalchen. While they make themselves comfortable inside the boat, it sails past the small villages around the lake, the Kammer Castle and the many bathing areas.<\/p>\n

#9 Baking farmer\u2019s doughnuts in the Erlach Mill<\/h2>\n

In the Mondsee Erlachm\u00fchle<\/a>, farmer\u2019s doughnuts are baked together with the senior boss of the house according to a traditional recipe. This building, which is more than 600 years old, houses the flour mill, the house power station and the wood-fired bakery. And it smells heavenly!
