Salzburg\u2019s southernmost region is a real paradise for pleasure cyclists. On this cosy circuit, you will cycle past ancient castles and palaces, and visit small towns that invite you to rest and relax. The Mitterberg circuit connects seamlessly to the Mur cycle path, is easy to ride and therefore ideal for families with children. At the destination, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.grossarltal.info\/en\/infrastructures\/hirschgrubenalm-1564-m.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hirschgrubenalm<\/a>, home-made delicacies are waiting for hungry bikers. You start from the centre of Gro\u00dfarl (920m) where you cycle into the valley to H\u00fcttschlag and onward to the Aschaust\u00fcberl (1,050m). This is also known as the \u2018Sun Spot\u2019 of the region. On a service road you will then pass some farms before you finally reach the forest road with a barrier. Through shady high Alpine woods, you can enjoy the seclusion of the mountains to the fullest before you reach the Alm at 1,564 metres above sea level. The same route takes you back down into the valley. This is a tour that is especially fun with the E-Bike. It connects the Gaisberg summit (near Salzburg), H\u00f6gl (near Anger) and Buchberg (near Mattsee) on cycle paths and side roads with little traffic. The starting point is the City of Salzburg. Over 164 kilometres of natural forest reserves, conservation areas and nature parks are waiting to be discovered anew. Through soft mobility, the environment here is not affected. Then you follow the picturesque Marbach stream up to the Marbachalms, a stunning alpine pasture area nestled at the end of the valley. The steep cliffs of the Radstadt Tauern mountains, at the foot of which lies the Marbach Valley, provide a magnificent backdrop. Good then that there is an E-Bike in the Hohe Tauern National Park, which leads us not only through one of the most beautiful regions of the Alps, but also allows us to enjoy the origin of the wet element. The Springs. Such a tour is simply beautiful and interesting especially as it runs along the most important and longest river in the country, the Salzach River. The starting point is the village of Wald im Pinzgau where you cycle on the Gerlosstra\u00dfe in the Salzach Valley. The starting point is Lend, from where you cycle southward away from the hustle and bustle on fully signposted cycle paths. In Dorfgastein, the first stop, the world\u2019s best Salzburg-Nockerl are waiting at the Unterberger Tavern for hungry cyclists. But even if this town invites you to linger, you should quickly be on your way again. Finally, there is still so much to discover. Then it continues to Bad Hofgastein. Here, you should plan a visit to the historic walls of the \u201cWeitmoser Palace\u201d, before taking a break at the two new thermal lakes in the Alpine Spa.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, cyclists reach Bad Gastein as the crowning glory of the tour. The Belle Epoque architecture is something very special and there are few places in the world that offer so much charm. After an ascent, the town of Rauris sits before you. In the \u2018The King of the Skies\u2019 exhibition, you can learn many interesting things about the largest birds in the Alps, before you treat yourself to a fully deserved rest in one of the many eateries. Then you head along the old Bucheben Road further into the valley. Even if the bike is humming along nicely, you really should take a short brake at the pretty Ein\u00f6d Chapel and take it all in.<\/p>\n<p>For those who always wanted to try panning for gold, you can do this just after the toll station at an original gold washing spot.\u00a0With a little bit of patience, you can even today filter out tiny gold flakes from the crystal clear waters of the H\u00fcttwinkelache. A last short stage and the goal is already in sight \u2013 the end of the Valley Kolm Saigurn. The impressive view of the majestic Hohen Sonnblick is guaranteed compensation for the hardships on the road.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Our Tip: <\/strong>From the starting point at Taxenbach\/Kitzloch Gorge, take the rewarding variant across Embach, play a round of mountain golf and enjoy the wonderful landscape. To fully enjoy the beauty of nature, it\u2019s best to get onto one of the many E-Mountain Bikes, which are available for rent everywhere in the region. The starting point is Unken, from where the trail into the valley follows the Unkenbach. Rushing waterfalls and wild swimming spots border the trail. The viewing point at the Schwarzenberg Gorge is reached after a short, but steep section. The motto here is to take a deep breath and soak up the views of this natural spectacle.<\/p>\n<p>On the way to the Winklmoosalm, you pass the Muckklause, a dam that was once used for drift wood. No matter whether you start from the Salzburg or Tyrolean side, this tour is always an experience. From Lofer, the circuit leads across the state border into nearby Waidring. Then it\u2019s on towards St. Ulrich on the Lake Pillersee with views of the Steinplatte Mountain. At about 20 degrees in summer, this lake is wonderful refreshment for tired cyclists.<\/p>\n<p>Now you can see the impressive St. James Cross in view. A short detour with the cable car to the summit of the Buchensteinwand is well worth it, as this is the largest summit cross in the world which you can walk on and it stands on a special place of power. If you are cycling with the little bike adventurers, the next highlight of this circuit is waiting in Leogang with the Sense-Adventure park. It leads through the most diverse regions in SalzburgerLand and is a guarantee for relaxing and adventurous cycling. The section from Zell am See to Taxenbach the Kitzloch Gorge is especially beautiful. Already on this 18km section you can see how quickly the character of the trail changes. At the start, you glide along the elegant lake promenade of the state capital, then the valley starts to close in and the jagged rocks of the Hohe Tauern National Park come into reach.<\/p>\n<p>When you arrive in Taxenbach, you visit the Frauenkapelle Chapel, which was built for the town fire in 1710 and then you head down to the entrance of the Kitzloch Gorge on the last, short section. A must on every visit!<\/p><\/div>\n<h2><strong>The legendary Tauern Cycle Path<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>A bicycle tour on the Tauern Cycle Path through the Pongau region comes close to a journey through the history of this region. Again and again you encounter old legends, pass historic walls and discover all sorts of traces of the past. \u2018Climb onto the saddle and set off\u2019 is the motto when starting in St. Veit, where you can delay the first kicks of the pedals with a short visit to the Tauern Cable Car Museum in Schwarzach. Just before St Johann, it is well worth stopping to see the thundering waters of the Liechtenstein Gorge.<\/p>\n<p>Arriving finally in the Salzach Valley, you will see why the Gainfeld waterfall at Bischofshofen mesmerises not only water lovers. A little further on, you can visit 7 grade II listed mills on the M\u00fchlenweg trail in Pfarrwerfen. The \u2018Sound of Music Trail\u2019 in Werfen leads you to the original locations from this legendary movie, before you get a bit of a sweat on walking up to the Castle Hohenwerfen. This historic fortress is absolutely a worthwhile visit with its stunning scenic backdrop. You will find many fragrant plants everywhere and especially in the Salzburg Lake District people have for centuries been fascinated by their health promoting effects. You can learn all about what you can do with the wide range of healing and wild herbs, when and how they can help and where to find them, on this big circuit around Lake Wallersee. You can start for example in Seekirchen, where the castle garden near the lake invites you to take your first rest after just a few kilometres. The Tiefsteinklamm Gorge in Schleedorf is both a natural jewel and place of power.<\/p>\n<p>After visits to K\u00f6stendorf and Strasswalchen, finally a visit to the \u2018Herb Garden in the Pan\u2019 in the Trapp garden world is on the program.
