Torrential streams and lush greens<\/h2>\n

Hansi is a real Lungauer and runs his own Guest House in Mauterndorf<\/a>. When he isn\u2019t stood at the stove, he trades his apron for his hiking boots. For Maddie<\/strong><\/a> and Raffaela, Hansi personally made time to take a small hike in his homeland. By car, you head to Tweng, where the trail leads along the Taurach River. There, nature shows itself in all its power. Due to a storm the day before, there are bent trees around and the water roars along the river bed. A bridge which should lead you across dry is actually underwater. \u201cThat\u2019s nature,\u201c says Hansi. And here in Salzburg\u2019s Lungau region it\u2019s more real than anywhere else.<\/p>\n

They head up through the forest, where far and wide no-one is to be seen, and left and right toadstools peek out from among the bushes. There are some really beautiful specimens among them and Maddie takes a picture. The contrast between the lush greens and the red of the mushrooms is exceptionally harmonious. Hansi knows virtually all the plants and lets his visitors taste some.<\/p>\n

A snack on the moor<\/h2>\n

After a while, the forest thins out and a wide moor comes into view. As the sun appears, Maddie takes off her shoes and wades through shallow puddles. The water here too is overflowing. Hansi doesn\u2019t mind that. The moor is the ideal place for a short snack. The goodies, lovingly prepared by the Hotel Eggerwirt for the hiking ladies, are enjoyed sitting on a tree trunk.<\/p>\n

For me, Lungau is totally special, because it is not the super touristy destination. \u2013 DariaDaria<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

If you listen in nature, there is only silence \u2013 apart from the sound of the wind in the treetops and birds chirping. \u201cI especially like it here because we visit unspoilt places and meet not a soul\u201c, Maddie says. \u201cFor me, Lungau is totally special, because it is not the super touristy destination. It is a bit of an insider\u2019s tip and it was especially cool for me, because a lot can be found in this quiet corner of Austria\u201d. And she is right: no matter whether sparkling or still, in Salzburg\u2019s Lungau region you can experience a lot.<\/p>\n

One for all: the Lungau Card<\/h2>\n

What exactly you can experience? Countless hikes, summer refreshments in the lakes or winter sauna infusions in top homes. But that\u2019s not all. Many Lungau businesses have joined forces and offer the Lungau Card together with the local tourism association\u201c. Between 1st June and 31st October it is valid for the entire duration of your stay and has lots of benefits.<\/p>\n

The calm after the storm<\/h2>\n

Salzburg\u2019s Lungau region offers plenty of nature. And even more impressions. After a long day outdoors, a warm place to relax is worth its weight in gold. For Maddie and Raffaela, that\u2019s in the Hotel Eggerwirt ****S<\/strong><\/a>. There, not only an extensive dinner awaits the girls, but also a wonderful Spa area to bring warmth back into their bones. The absolute highlight of the day was the Yoga on the pier of the heated on-site nature pond and a jump in the water.<\/p>\n
