The smell of hay<\/h2>\n

After a nice journey we arrive quite relaxed at Seecamping Berau<\/strong><\/a>. On the way we enjoyed the scenery in which the mountains became higher and the lakes more blue. Once we arrive to Lake Wolfgangsee in Salzkammergut region<\/strong><\/a>, all our expectations are surpassed. The lake is bright blue and surrounded by colorful villages and imposing mountains. At the reception a friendly lady dressed in Dirndl welcomes us and tells us where our spot is. For the next two weeks we enjoy a grat view to the mountains and green meadows. It\u2019s a hot day and while we set the tent I occasionally sniff the smell of warm hay. Our holiday could not have begun better.<\/p>\n

Swimming all around<\/h2>\n

We\u2019re lucky with the weather so The Wolfgangsee is our biggest friend, but the area around the lake also attracts. That\u2019s why we go to the Erlebnisbad in Abtenau<\/strong><\/a>, a very beautiful outdoor pool with fun for all our daughters. And the Fuschlseebad<\/strong><\/a> where you can take a swim in an outdoor swimming pool and plunge through a big slide into the lake. Both are free to access with our SalzburgerLand Card<\/strong><\/a>. That same week we also learn \u2018Stand up Paddling\u2019. Or well, we\u2019re doing it on our bottoms. It\u2019s hard to keep standing. But we have fun! Whenever I get a little farther on the lake, the outside world no longer exists and all the stress disappears.<\/p>\n

So much kindness<\/h2>\n

That same feeling I get when we climb the nearby Postalm<\/strong><\/a>. We choose a 1.5 hour route that takes us almost three hours. But there is so much to see on the way. A chapel, cows with bells, nice streams, forrests, alpine meadows and almost at the end of the route is Jausenstation Schafbergblick<\/strong><\/a> on the Wiesleralm<\/strong>. The girls choose an ice cream and we pick the Brettljause, a platter of cheese, meat and bread. After this nice break, we walk back to the car. Oops: we left our backpack. My husband walks back to the almhut, but when he is halfway, he meets a van. It is the employee of the almhut. With our backpack. My husband even gets a lift to our car as well. We are speechless of so much kindness.<\/p>\n

SalzburgerLand Card<\/h2>\n

In the second holidayweek the sun is quite shy. Fortunately, there are plenty of indoor activities for families in the area. On our wish list is Festung Hohensalzburg<\/strong>.<\/a> Thanks to our SalzburgerLand Card, which can also be used as a Salzburg Card for 24 hours, we can get in for free. The children \u2018enjoy\u2019 the guns, swords and tortoises and we enjoy the beautiful royal chambers and the view over the city of Salzburg<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

As our Salzburg Card is valid for 24 hours, we can also go to the <\/a>Haus der Natur<\/strong><\/a> in Salzburg the next morning. We see fascinating aquariums, dinos, thousands of gems and fossils and the children play for hours in the research and experimental center. There is so much to do that one of my daughters after four hours says: \u2018Are we already going?\u2019<\/p>\n

Summerfun<\/h2>\n

Of course, a visit to the SalzburgerLand also includes a ride with a summercablecar. We even do two: the Zw\u00f6lferhorn in St. Gilgen<\/strong><\/a> and the Karkogelbahn in Abtenau<\/strong><\/a>, which we combine with the Karkogel-Sommerrodelbahn<\/strong><\/a>. Everything is accessible with the SalzburgerLand Card so the wallet can remain closed. Especially the Zw\u00f6lferhorn looks pretty impressive and I really need to overcome my fear of height. But once on my way to the top, I can only enjoy the phenomenal view. Just like the oldest daughter who regularly loses a \u2018wow\u2019. Its unbelievably beautiful here. Next year I want to go again!<\/p>\n

Personal tips<\/h2>\n

Next to Seecamping Berau is Wolfgangsee Spielarena<\/strong><\/a>, a nice children\u2019s playground for children from 0-12 with a skatepark. Free access.<\/p>\n

A few minutes driving from Seecamping Berau you will find the Schwarzensee<\/strong>, a small lake where you can walk around in less than two hours. After the walk you may end up with a drink or something at Wirtshaus Zu Loren.<\/p>\n
