{"id":59778,"date":"2025-02-01T17:22:21","date_gmt":"2025-02-01T16:22:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.onebigpark.at\/de\/?post_type=entity&#038;p=59778"},"modified":"2025-07-23T16:19:34","modified_gmt":"2025-07-23T14:19:34","slug":"salzburg-festival","status":"publish","type":"entity","link":"https:\/\/www.salzburgerland.com\/en\/salzburg-festival\/","title":{"rendered":"Salzburg Festival"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span id=\"result_box\" class=\"\" lang=\"en\"><span>Probably the most famous cultural event in the Salzburg region is the Salzburg Festival from 18.07.2025 to 31.08.2025.<\/span> <span>The artistic program is diverse at the Salzburg Festival, as well as interesting and exciting.<\/span> <span>Every year around 200 events, including operas, concerts, evenings with plays and readings are held in Salzburg.<\/span> <span class=\"\">The city of Salzburg becomes a stage for art and culture \u2013 <strong>for 174 Performances on 45 Tagen at 16 Venues as well as 37 Performances as part of the Youth Programme jung &amp; jede*r.<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The Salzburg Festival lasts six weeks and it has helped catapult this small town in the Alps to worldwide fame. The list of conductors, orchestras and soloists reads like a Who\u2019s Who of the 100 years of music history. The festival has continued to grow ever since Everyman was played at the Domplatz in front of the cathedral for the first time many years ago. Apart from the old maestros and the focus on Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, the programme also includes premiere performances of modern composers. The three main pillars are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Drama<\/strong>: From Everyman to Shakespeare to contemporary plays.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Opera:<\/strong> The focus is on operas by Mozart, Bellini and Verdi.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Concerts:<\/strong> From solo performances on the piano to small ensembles through to the best orchestras in the world.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Get more information about <a href=\"https:\/\/www.salzburgerfestspiele.at\/en\/tickets\/calendar?season=140\">programme and tickets.<\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Everyman and the founding of the Festival<\/h2>\n<p>The Festival was born in 1920 when Everyman (Jedermann) was performed in front of the cathedral for the first time. To this day, \u201cThe life and death of a rich man\u201d is still performed \u2013 and with good reason, too. Every new production is an exciting and independent highlight of the Festival, celebrated year after year by locals and visitors alike. Deleila Piasko takes on the role of Buhlschaft alongside Philipp Hochmair, who plays the title role of Jedermann. He initiated the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.salzburgerland.com\/en\/salzburg-easter-festival\/\">Easter Festival<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.salzburgerland.com\/en\/salzburg-whitsun-festival\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Whitsun Festival<\/a>. While the Easter Festival has music of the highest quality but on a smaller scale, Whitsun quickly became the \u201calternative date\u201d for the Easter Festival subscribers. Over the years, both festivals have gone through many changes and are now regarded as the spearhead of classical music as well as the most exclusive and best festivals in the world.<\/p>\n<h2>100 Years of the Salzburg Festival<\/h2>\n<p><span id=\"result_box\" class=\"\" lang=\"en\">I<span>n 2020, the Salzburg Festival celebrated its 100th birthday. <\/span>The entire festival programme, always updated, is available on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.salzburgerfestspiele.at\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">www.salzburgerfestspiele.at<\/a>. <\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Festival time in Salzburg<\/h2>\n<p>While some people are putting on their evening wear, others are working frantically to ensure everything runs smoothly. While some people are sitting in coffee houses, having a quick look at the libretto of the Mozart opera that evening, others are still rehearsing and adding the finishing touches at the Festival Hall. While some people are stuck in traffic and are complaining about the stifling heat, other people are already gathering at the Everyman stage in front of the cathedral.
