The holiday paradise of Obertauern can be found in the south-west of SalzburgerLand at an altitude of 1,630 to 2,526 metres above sea level. This exciting mountain region with the Radst\u00e4dter Tauern mountains offers holiday-makers a lot both in winter and in summer.<\/p>\n

To this popular holiday region belong the three towns of Obertauern, Untertauern<\/a> and Tweng<\/a>!<\/p>\n

Obertauern in Winter<\/h2>\n

Due to its geographical location, Obertauern is fortunate to receive large amounts of snow from the north as well as snowfall from the south. Coupled with its high altitude, this makes Obertauern the snowiest winter sports destination in Austria. Whether you\u2019re skiing, cross-country skiing or tobogganing in the winter wonderland of Obertauern, you\u2019ll find the perfect conditions.<\/p>\n

Skiers Paradies<\/h3>\n

With 100 kilometers of slopes, Obertauern offers a compact yet varied ski area.
Beginners and families will find plenty of space on 61 kilometers of blue runs. Advanced skiers can choose from 35 kilometers of red runs, while those seeking a challenge can tackle 4 kilometers of black runs. Families enjoy extra benefits: children up to 5 years old ski for free with their parents. There are also special routes for them, such as the Kindertauernrunde and the popular Bobby-Runde. Older children can have fun on the My Track route, complete with speed measurements and jumps.<\/p>\n

It is the ultimate challenge for all those who are looking for that special kick \u2013 the \u201cGamsleiten 2\u201d. As one of the steepest slopes in Europe, even expert skiers and snowboarders have respect for the deep black run, as the slope can only be groomed at irregular intervals due to the weather conditions, making it a great challenge time and time again.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s plenty to do in the evenings as well. Twice a week, the Edelweissbahn is illuminated for night skiing. Between 7:00 PM and 10:00 PM, you can ski on a 1.5-kilometer-long slope under the starry sky \u2013 included with a ski pass of one and a half days or more. In addition, there are five toboggan runs, snowshoe trails, cross-country skiing tracks, and romantic horse-drawn sleigh rides.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
