Whoever doesn\u2019t pay a visit to the La<\/a>mmer<\/a>Gorge<\/a> when on holiday in Scheffau, has not properly gotten to know the place. Since 1884, the so-called Lammer furnaces have been open to visitors. Well secured bridges lead the way along steep rock faces over the thundering waters of the impressive gorge.<\/p>\n

But also away from the gorge, the clear waters of the Lammer and its side streams are omnipresent in Scheffau. Such as when cycling along the Lammer Bike & Hike trail<\/a>, on a guided canoeing or rafting tour, or in the form of spectacular waterfalls. The Winnerfall is particularly impressive \u2013 in a powerful spray, the water pours from a cave down into the depths.<\/p>\n

Additionally, there is one more feature around the wet element in Scheffau: the old mill and the marble ball mill<\/a>. The historical wheat mill dates from the 17th Century and is still in operation on Sundays and public holidays. Right next to it stands the faithfully reconstructed marble ball mill. The production of marbles used to be a side-line for farmers and these marble balls were delivered throughout the whole world as a Salzburg speciality.
