Oberalm, with its Gothic Parish Church, is the perfect starting point for excursions to the local district capital of Hallein<\/strong> or to Salzburg<\/a>. On the one hand a stroll through the historic old town of Hallein combined with a visit to the Celtic Museum, a drive up the D\u00fcrrnberg with its salt mine and Celtic Village are all worth a visit. And on the other hand, the city of Salzburg with its almost innumerable attractions, such as the Fortress, Mozart\u2019s birth house, Mirabell Gardens and the Hellbrunn castle and water games. Regardless of where you want to head, from Oberalm you can easily reach here or there by car or local train. For those who prefer more sports, take a nice bike ride along the Salzach River.<\/p>\n

In Oberalm itself, there is also something extraordinary to see: the so-called Schranne table<\/a>. This table, made from a raw-hewn marble slab, is today situated idyllically under an expansive Lime tree. Up to the beginning of the 19th Century, this table had a special meaning attached to it. Every year on this table, the local court was held and justice dispensed. Even if one today combines the word Schranne with the weekly green market in Salzburg, originally the Schranne was the place of jurisdiction.<\/p>\n

The palaces in Oberalm are also interesting. The Haunsperg palace from the 14th Century is privately owned, the local retirement home is housed in the Kahlsperg palace and the Winklhof palace houses an agricultural school. Here at the regularly held local farmers\u2019 market you can find vegetables, fruit, meat and cheese from the local region.<\/p>\n
