The variety of folk costumes in the SalzburgerLand is immense. Virtually every valley here has its own distinctive costume which is sported with great pride - and that same variety is also reflected at the numerous folkwear fashion shows during Harvest Festival. And taking their rightful place at center stage: the Dirndl & the Lederhose.
Typical of the festive costumes worn by the women of Salzburg is the black skirt, the artistic bodice and an apron made of fine fabric. But folk outfits with a more modern design also enjoy great popularity, creatively manufactured from valuable materials by Salzburg's own tailors.
"Dirndl Sunday" - in honor of Saint Notburga - is celebrated on September 6, 2009.
