The holiday region Zell am See-Kaprun combines active winter and summer fun. The Zell am See lake as a centre for activities on and around the crystal-clear waters is embedded between glaciers and imposing mountain peaks. Whether you go for a winter walk along the lake through a landscape covered in deep snow, go ice skating or take a „Sternenschifffahrt” boat trip in Advent – at the Zeller See you can enjoy many varied hours of holiday fun. In summer, the lake invites you to cool off wonderfully. If you want to, you can relax in one of the numerous lidos, on a boat tour or go sailing, stand-up paddling or water skiing.

Winter in Zell am See-Kaprun

Whether a skiing beginner or carving Pro – 408 kilometres of downhill runs, spread out over 240 slopes, pamper all winter sports fans in the Zell am See-Kaprun region thanks to the new Ski ALPIN CARD. The card is valid in the region’s top premium ski areas: the Schmittenhöhe in Zell am See, the Kitzsteinhorn with Maiskogel in Kaprun and the Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn. Due to the high location of the Kitzsteinhorn at 3,029 metres, skiing pleasure is guaranteed from autumn until the early summer. On the centrally located Maiskogel, families will find perfect conditions. Snowboarders and Freeskiers are drawn into the snow park 2,900m above sea level on the Kitzsteinhorn with Austria‘s longest Superpipe and five freeride-routes. The Schmittenhöhe scores with a Kidslope, one of the longest funslopes in the world, and brave skiers can try the “Trass” run, which has a gradient of 70%!

ALPS AT THEIR VERY BEST

The Schmittenhöhe panorama- and family-ski area offers three access points in Zell am See. With the completion of the zellamseeXpress, the course was set for a new dimension of skiing. You can reach the ski area of the Schmittenhöhe via a natural snow slope. You can get back in just a few minutes with a ski bus connection. On the glacier Kitzsteinhorn the winter starts already in autumn and the extra long winter season delights skiers until early summer. The cable car connection 3K-K-onnection takes you directly from the centre of Kaprun with two cable cars over the Maiskogel to the glacier ski area Kitzsteinhorn. This means ski in – ski out for all guests of Kaprun, who can easily reach the valley station of the MK Maiskogel cable car on foot or by ski bus.

Diverse Sports

Whether on picturesque valley bike trails, breath-taking Freerider Trails or crispy marathon routes, mountain bikers, from beginners to professionals, always find a suitable terrain on the 242 kilometres in Zell am See-Kaprun. On the extra-long Alpine descent, from the Alpine Centre down into the valley, Freeriders conquer the 12km circuit and 1,500 metres descent. The three Kaprun Freeride Trails offer pure biking fun! Whoever prefers to spend their spare time active and outdoors, can explore the running tracks and trail running routes of Zell am See-Kaprun. Hikers and climbers find their paradise in Zell am See-Kaprun on approximately 400km of hiking trails at all altitudes. On the Schmittenhöhe several children’s hiking trails with play stations around the adventures of the dragon Schmidolin entertain the whole family. Kids and adults can put their skills to the test at the rapid e-motocrossing at “Schmidolin’s Fire Chair” on the Areit. The region has made a name for itself far beyond its borders with major sporting events such as the IRONMAN 70.3 or the Grossglockner Ultra-Trail.

Regional Highlights

The TAUERN SPA and the Summit World 3000 are among the highlights of the region. In the TAUERN SPA you can relax in the indoor and outdoor pools, and enjoy sauna, massages and treatments. The Panorama Platform TOP OF SALZBURG on the Kitzsteinhorn Mountain in Kaprun offers a wonderful view of the Alpine giants. In the 3000 Cinema visitors get acquainted with the mountain’s flora and fauna and in the National Park Gallery you can experience the full diversity of the Hohe Tauern National Park. A highlight for golfers: From April to November, the Leading Golf Course with Championship- and Friendship Courses „Schmittenhöhe” and „Kitzsteinhorn” with 36 holes, offer enough space for ambitious golf beginners as well as professionals to practice their ball artistry.
