Gasteiner Bergbahnen – Stubnerkogel & Schlossalm

Gastein Some bravery is needed to cross the 140 m long suspension bridge or the rock trail. The views here are absolutely magical and the Glocknerblick viewing platform guarantees a stunning view to Austria`s highest mountain, the Großglockner. Also enjoy the marvelous view from the „Talblick” platform. The finishing touch to this alpine experience is added by the rock trail, yet another marvelous opportunity to take in even more truly imposing views. Family and adventure mountain Schlossalm in Bad Hofgastein

On the Schlossalm, you hike via beautiful hiking paths along the shores of the Schlossalm lake and conquer a variety of 8 different via ferrata climbs as well as a rope bridge, ranging from rookie to expert. Likewise, the big playground on the Schlossalm offers many opportunities for the kids to run, play and work off some of that pent-up youthful energy. Right next to the mountain station on the Schlossalm, children and adults can both hone their balance skills in the Slackline Park, or at the motor skill path with 20 stations in different levels of difficulty to challenge you and to play. What a fun for the whole family.

Kitzsteinhorn – Kaprun

On 3,029 meters, the Kitzsteinhorn summit is within arm’s reach. It’s here where Salzburg’s highest-situated attraction is located: TOP OF SALZBURG is open year round and directly borders the Hohe Tauern National Park, Alps’ largest nature reserve. Reaching the high-alpine adventure world doesn’t require any mountaineering skills – TOP OF SALZBURG is the highest point in the state of Salzburg to be easily reachable by cable cars. Two spectacular panoramic platforms, Austria’s highest-situated movie theater “Cinema 3000” and the “National Park Gallery” info tunnel offer breathtaking views of and fascinating insights into the high-alpine mountain world.

On the glacier plateau on 3,000 meters, Austria’s unique adventure area ICE ARENA promises fun and cooling in the glacier snow in July and August. On 2,450 meters, the KIDS-steinhorn adventure playground awaits little ones, and the access point to the first of three challenging freeride trails that lead all the way down to the Maiskogel experienced downhill riders. Wooden water toys motivate kids to play with pure mountain water at the Water Playground Langwied.

There’s much to explore on the Maiskogel family mountain, too – such as the Family & Leisure Park with slides, bouncing castle, climbing walls and much more. A ride on the Maisi Flitzer alpine coaster will make little and big hearts leap with joy. The MK Maiskogelbahn takes everyone comfortably onto the Maiskogel – the ideal access point to numerous hike and bike tours.

Asitz – Leogang

The Asitz mountain offers up a wealth of fun- and adventure-packed activities in summer and in winter. Discover and enjoy nature on the wonderful hiking trails and taste the local delicacies in the mountain huts. There are 30 enjoyable interactive stations in the Senses Experience World, a walkable waterfall and games station at Leo’s Water World and fun and excitement aplenty to be had on the summer toboggan run “Leo Klang”. You can experience one of the world’s fastest longest zip wires: Flying Fox XXL, with its length of 1,600 m and maximum speed of 130 km/hour. Bikers will be delighted by Bikepark Leogang – one of Europe’s most renowned and diverse bike parks, which had the honour of hosting the UCI Mountain Bike & Trials World Championships.  The nature cinema on the Sonnkogel is a real “panorama cinema”, which has been lovingly integrated into nature. On the different ones you will find comfortable wooden loungers and hammocks to relax. Since 2008, five TONspur concerts have been delighting audiences in the summer amidst a breathtaking mountain backdrop. Since the summer of 2020, live recordings from the previous year have been available on the TONspur Islands for one year at a time. Comfortable wooden loungers, a high-quality sound system and a breathtaking panoramic view provide relaxation! 

NEW: Forest bathing at the Mountain of Senses

Take the Steinberg or Asitz lift, float up to a height of 1,762 m, and enjoy the amazing mountain views. 14 stations, which blend in with the forest, invite you to take a little time, meditate and relax on the approx. 6 km long hiking trail. Viewpoints, resting areas, nature swings, a yoga space, a treetop bed, and even a waterfall will help you to recharge your batteries. After a walk down of about 3.5 hours, covering an altitude of 1000 metres, you will arrive at the base station of the Steinberg lift both mentally and physically invigorated.

Prinzenberg Natrun – Maria Alm

Natrun in Maria Alm is full of fun-packed variety for all ages. Experience exciting family adventures on Maria Alm‘s local mountain. Little ones romp around on the adventure playground and the big ones in the forest slide park or in the forest ropes course. The forest rope course offers up spectacular leaps from tree to tree. The whole family can test their skills and accuracy at the Jufen Archery Course, or take a detour to the Prinzensee. MTB-enthusiasts can try the Flow One MTB-Trail which leads down 300 m into the valley. On the forest adventure path the children can have fun whilst learning about nature, whilst the wildlife closure, open the entire year round, offers up deep insights into the indigenous animal world.

Rauris – Hochalmbahnen

Experience a lot with the Rauriser Hochalmbahnen on the Hochalm family mountain: Get up close to with the birds of prey, pan for real gold or experience nature up close on the barefoot path – fun and relaxation for young and old is guaranteed.

The gondola lift takes you up to the Hochalm at 1,800 m in just a couple of minutes. This is the ideal starting point for relaxing hikes with breathtaking panoramas. Explore the world of birds of prey and get very close to the „Kings of theAir” at the Bird-of-Prey station or try your luck at the gold-panning site or while washing minerals. Enjoy pure water fun on the water playground, explore the barefoot was or follow Tilly’s Forest Path to discover fascinating insights into the animal and plant kingdom. The fascination of a marble run turns adults into children again – fun and exercise in the middle of nature in the Hohe Tauern National Park. Round off your trip with a gentle stroll around the gorgeous Hochalm mountain lake.

Saalbach Hinterglemm

Reach Reiterkogel, Kohlmais, Schattberg, Westgipfel and Zwölferkogel peaks in comfort and safety in one of six cable cars. Anybody who does so will be enthralled by all the special things on offer such as Montelino‘s adventure path with water playground and deer feeding.

In Saalbach Hinterglemm, families will find a wide range of activities for young and old, with a special feature being the playful journeys of discovery for the kids. At the Reiterkogel in Hinterglemm, for example, there is the “Kodok’s Adventure” where children can look forward to an exciting adventure with lots of puzzle stations as well as Kodok’s play world and ball tracks! At the Kohlmais in Saalbach, little explorers are accompanied by Montelino the clown along the adventure trail, at the water playground and while feeding the wild animals.

Hikers and climbers will also find countless opportunities to pursue their passion. Saalbach Hinterglemm offers over 400 kilometers of marked hiking trails. The showpiece tour is the “Seven Summits of Saalbach Hinterglemm” – a 24-kilometre mountain tour over the highest peaks of the Glemmtal valley with an alpine character and a challenging 1,400 meters of altitude.
Bike fans are not left out either and can let off steam on over 90 km of lines & trails and hundreds of kilometers of bike routes of all difficulty levels for downhillers, touring bikers and e-bikers in Austria’s largest bike region Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn.

Wagrain mountain lifts

In the immediate vicinity of the Grafenbergbahn mountain station in Wagrain, the Wagrainis Grafenberg nature and mountain experience world invites you to play and discover. From the “Grafenbergsee” you can take a raft or cross the suspension bridge to the bee trail, then continue on the “Hachaurutsche” to the low ropes course. There, skill and coordination are required on different courses with swinging ropes and balancing elements. All the exercises are at a low altitude, which does not make them any easier. Then it’s off to the swing forest. There, the giant swing awaits particularly daring kids, then straight on to the climbing stadium, where various routes can be climbed on the bouldering wall, which can be recognized by the color of the holds. Finally, the “Path of Fascination” awaits, which leads back to the “Kinderalm” via the Wagrainis water play park.
Experience tip: As a highlight, the KUHbidu adventure trail attracts all young explorers and naturalists to the Wagrainis Grafenberg. Answers to questions such as: what does a cow eat?, where does milk come from?, and how is cheese made from it?, can be discovered playfully on the trail with many adventure stations. All those who manage to solve all the riddles can pick up a little surprise at the valley station when going home.

KUHbidu Thursday

In addition, there will also be the popular KUHbidu Thursday every Thursday during summer break this season, where experts from the region will pass on their knowledge about the regional dairy industry to little and big explorers.

St. Johann – Ghost mountain

On the Geisterberg in St. Johann, the motto during the summer months is “Welcome to the world of funny ghosts”. Over 40 large and small play stations for children are located along the hiking trails, most of which are suitable for strollers. Highlights are the ghost mountain castle, the ghost village, water games, climbing towers, swings and numerous slides. The “Geisterbergzug”, a tractor train, comfortably takes our guests part of the way from the mountain station to the center of the Geisterberg adventure world. As soon as you arrive in St. Johann, you will find a spacious children’s play paradise in front of the valley station of the Alpendorf gondola lift.
Experience tip: Drachi’s youth climbing route is the right attraction for adventure-hungry youngsters to test their own limits. Secured by a steel rope, they can climb the 40-meter-high Drachenwand on the Geisterberg together with their parents. The necessary via ferrata equipment can be rented at the sports store at the valley station.

Climbing Tuesday
Every Tuesday during summer holidays, you have the opportunity to climb the Drachis Via Ferrata on the Geisterberg accompanied by a certified mountain guide. There are also useful tips and tricks for the use of climbing equipment and a safety instruction. Schmittenhöhe – Zell am See

With the summer mountain lifts, you’ll ascend to great heights – and straight into an incredible mountain panorama. You’ll encounter no less than 30 peaks over three thousand meters high while enjoying a leisurely breakfast at the summit of Schmittenhöhe or during nearby peak hikes, a stroll along the high-altitude promenade, or the long-distance hike along the Pinzgauer Spaziergang Trail.
Along the panoramic trail “High-Altitude Promenade,” there are figures, play stations, and viewing platforms to discover, and meanwhile, you’ll also solve a hiking puzzle. On the adventure trail “Schmidolin’s Baptism of Fire,” with its varied stations and exciting challenges, family hiking turns into an exciting adventure. Additionally, small and big hiking enthusiasts can expect a fabulous experience on the “Mystical Forest” hiking trail on Zell’s local mountain.

The E-Motocross Park on Schmitten is ideal for environmentally conscious motorsport fans and those aspiring to be. Numerous oversized sculptures by international artists can be visited along the hiking trails and ski slopes in both summer and winter, making every visit an inspiring experience. The 4 Lakes Art Hike takes you from the summit along picturesque reservoir lakes and past many impressive artworks down into the valley.

Alpine meadow playground – Mühlbach am Hochkönig

Experience fun and adventure for the entire family on the Karbachalm, high above Mühlbach in Hochkönig, at Alpine meadow playground. Numerous play stations offer hours of fun for the children. The youngest children can give their creativity free rein in the water and sand playground and the children’s thirst for movement will be quenched on the climbing tower, slacklines and with the Alpine Frisbee. You should definitely take the opportunity to do a small hike, and the surrounding hiking paths are all accessible to pushchairs. The Karbachalm is highly recommended for those who like to explore the world from their saddle; take your bike comfortably up in the lift to where a cycling path awaits, guaranteeing fun for all. Lofer Alpine World

With the Almbahnen I and II you can head directly into the Lofer Alpine World, where you conquer an ascent of 720 metres (from 630m up to 1350m altitude) and find yourself in Austria’s most beautiful hiking Alm with all its possibilities to enjoy. There are 7 looped hiking trails with 4 stunning panoramic lookout peaks waiting to be discovered. Or what about a visit to the adventure playground where the kids can tumble around. Anyone looking to experience up-close the power and beauty of water should definitely take a closer look at the ‘Waterfall’ trail.  Bikers use the Almbahn I and II for the ascent up to where they find connections to Waidring/Steinplatte, Winklmoosalm and Unken/Heutal. Also for anyone with walking disabilites or those in wheelchairs, the barrier-free cable cars and restauraunts provide a true natural spectacle.

Our tip: One of the best places to enjoy the sunset is at the ‘Rote Marmorsee’ (Red Marble Lake) on the Schönbühel. Located at 1,600 metres above sea level, this lovely spot is easily reached via the Märchenwanderweg (Fairytale Hiking Trail) Nr. 4.

Schafbergbahn St. Wolfgang

The ride on the SchafbergBahn cog railway all the way up to just below the 1,783 m summit takes 35 minutes and you will probably wish it could last even longer, considering the extraordinary views you are treated´to by this steepest cog railway in Austria: With every vertical meter, your perspective of the world changes. At the top, passengers have 11 different lakes at their feet and, in good visibility, are also able to enjoy the sight of the mighty Hohe Tauern and Grossglockner mountains.

Gamskogel, Zauchensee

From the adventure playground “Champions-Cup of the alpine animals” with 3 trails to the lake Seekarsee and the panoramic 4-summit tour: the Gamskogel offers unforgettable mountain experiences. The starting point is the Gamskogelhütte at 1,900 m above sea level, that can be reached comfortably with the Gamskogelbahn. Tip: The sun terrace of the Gamskogelhütte, a place to enjoy!
