Top range of ski schools

Learn the basics or get better with your technique in one of the region’s 110 ski schools or from one of the 6,000 ski and snowboard teachers. Not only can you benefit from expert ski and snowboarding tips, but also from their knowledge. They could tell you, for example, which slope is the best at midday, which runs are less crowded, which huts serve the best food and where to find the best Après-ski vibe.

Rustic mountain huts and gourmet restaurants

Almost everywhere you look in SalzburgerLand’s ski areas you’ll find a plethora of mountain huts all dedicates towards sending hungry skiers back onto the slopes refuelled and raring to go again. Delicious and energy-filled cheese dumplings, sausages, every kind of pastry dish imaginable and countless other delights are just waiting to be devoured.

Vegetarian and vegan oasis

The region of Hochkönig is a paradise for vegan skiers. Down in the valley and up on the mountains countless outlets offer a veritable feast for vegetarians and vegans. Sample meat- and fish-free delights on your skiing holiday, such as sesame falafel with hummus or lentil stew with fried onions in mountain huts like the Steinbockalm (Hochmais/Sinalcobahn), Zachhofalm (Dachegg), Wastlalm (Aberg), Bärmooshütte (Abergbahn) and in the Tischlerhütte (Aberg/Schönangerbahn)

But not only the Hochkönig region has specialised in vegetarian and vegan cuisine. Today, numerous ski huts in Salzburgerland, like the Lumberjack Hut on Shuttleberg Flachauwinkel-Kleinarl serve delicacies for veggies and vegans.

Great variety and diversity of activities

Although the majority of people return here for good old skiing, you’ll also find a huge number and range of winter sports enthusiasts pursuing their dreams on the mountains. Recent years have seen a marked increase of Telemark skiiers and snowbikers strut their stuff in the mountains. Although snowboarding was founded in the USA its European roots and beginnings can actually be traced back to SalzburgerLand so you’ll see many a snowboarder busting some moves here.

Largest area of contiguous ski slopes

Everything comes together in SalzburgerLand with the Salzburg Super Ski Card, which combines 85 ski resorts, and 2,750 kilometres of beautiful slopes, offering up a whole heap of challenges and fun on as well as  off the slopes.

Glacier skiing

If you’re looking for fantastic glacier skiing with low temperatures all year round and perfectly groomed runs for all-round skiing, look no further than to the Kitzsteinhorn, which towers high above Zell am See. If you want to feel snow under your board in late Spring you could have a morning glide down the glacier before jumping into the cold waters of Lake Zell to cool off for example in the afternoon.

Fun for the whole family

In SalzburgerLand great importance is put on family-friendly slopes. Also some hotels specialise in family-friendly packages, and these Family Hotels can be found throughout the region. The  entire ski area has also dedicated itself to families. Forstau near Radstadt and the Fageralm, Lofer and Saalachtal, the Lungau’s ski mountains and the Rauris Valley are just some examples of the regions to look out for.
