Barrier-free holidays in SalzburgerLand

Hotels for impaired guests

Not everyone can simply get in the car and go on a holiday. People with disabilities have particular needs when it comes to getting a break from everyday life and relaxing on holidays. This is sometimes not easy, many problems need to be considered and there are obstacles to overcome.

Barrier-free SalzburgerLand

Some establishments in SalzburgerLand – from the small private pension to 5-star hotels – have specially geared their infrastructure for guests with mobility problems, impaired vision or hearing. They are supported by a team of experts from the initiative Barrier-Free SalzburgerLand. An appropriate list of criteria was developed and adapted to the Austrian standard for barrier-free building. Accessibility in the areas: entrance, reception, rooms, bathrooms, toilets and hallways is examined and ensured.

Those who are not affected do not realise the difficulties that everyday life can pose on holidays.
Step-free access in all hotel areas, wide doors, the opportunity to bring the guide dog, a legible menu in no-frills writing, non-slip floors in the sanitary areas and disabled parking bays are only some of the requirements for a relaxing stay. The icing on the cake is when trained hotel staff will take the time to read out information if needed, carry luggage to the room and inform guests about wheelchair-friendly trails or suitable swimming options.
