From lake to mountain lake
A vivid blue sky, crystal-clear mountain lakes, pleasant temperatures and Mother Nature in her most splendid colors - a day in the Lungau mountains, in the sunny south of SalzburgerLand (about a one-hour drive from Salzburg City) is a delight for the senses, one that is quite beyond compare.
Nestled between the Niedere Tauern and the Nockberge, some 60 mountain lakes invite you to enjoy a well-earned break on their shores, and cool off your overheated feet in their clear waters. Woven in legends, they remind us of the days of the great glaciers in this region.
High summer in the Lungau also scores major points with its warm brand of hospitality and specialties from its farmhouse kitchens.
Enjoyable hikes with a bit of a "bite", this is the magic formula to bring gourmets and fitness-loving hikers to the same table. After all, regional dishes and local ingredients famously taste twice as good after an extended hiking tour.
