Each region boasts dishes which are uniquely its own. For the people of Pinzgau, Kasnocken are their pride and joy, whilst for those in Pongau, it's all about Bladln and Fleischkrapfen. In the Lungau they have "Eachtling mit Eierschwammerln" (= potatoes with chanterelles), and the folks in Tennengau prepare delicious dishes featuring Tennengauer Almkäse cheese. Dumplings in countless variations are popular in practically all parts of the province.

The Muas was once a widely enjoyed farmhouse meal, jam-packed with energy and often consumed for breakfast.
