"Grossarltal" - A name that stands for peace & quiet, nature, regeneration, hospitality, and a little piece of home.
Located 70 km south of Salzburg City, Grossarltal lies at a high, mist-free elevation. Due to the large number of mountain inns in the area, it has also acquired a nickname as the "Valley of Alpine Huts". The valley is home to two towns, Grossarl and Hüttschlag.
Because the valley used to be difficult to reach, it was spared the ravages of busy through-traffic. Nowadays, however, it is readily accessible to visitors via a pleasant, well-constructed road high above world-famous Liechtenstein gorge.
Regardless of when you wish to visit Grossarltal, there is always something wonderful to experience throughout the year - whether hiking or biking, snowshoeing or skiing on the slopes of Grossarltal-Dorfgastein, here in the midst of Ski amadé - the greatest skiing enjoyment in all of Austria - or simply kicking back and relaxing.
Experience living traditions and folk customs during Harvest Festival or a Salzburg Mountain Advent, and allow yourself to be enchanted by the ancient landscapes of Grossarltal!
