About 50km south of the Mozart City lies the idyllic Bischofshofen. This winter sports paradise has clearly earnt the right to host the Four Hills Tournament „Vierschanzentournee".

The town of Bischofshofen is popular with holidaymakers and locals alike. Not far from the city of Mozart, but situated in a picturesque landscape, Bischofshofen offers everything your heart desires. Well-known sights and excursion destinations such as Hohenwerfen Castle, the Eisriesenwelt or Hellbrunn Castle are in the immediate vicinity. The Celtic town of Hallein, the picturesque Bluntau valley or the Silent Night village of Wagrain are less than 30 minutes away.

Geopark “Ore of the Alps”

Around Bischofshofen, mining was done more than 500 years ago. The UNESCO Geopark “Ore of the Alps” is always worth a visit. Together with the neighbouring towns of Huttau, Mühlbach and St. Veit it has been recognised by UNESCO. The Geo Park presents the exciting history of ore mining, its development and significance for the region in a particularly interesting way. All four places are connected via the Copper Ore Trail. This scenic hiking trail leads from place to place to the respective museums and show mines, past impressive natural spectacles. The visitor centre in Bischofshofen is considered the best starting point – with important information in your luggage, you can then start your adventure hike.

Mountains, skiing and more

For sports enthusiasts, there is a wide range of offers all year round in Bischofshofen. The unspoilt nature invites for walking, hiking, running and cycling. The surrounding Hochkönig Mountain, along with the Tennengebirge and Fritz Valley Mountains are ideal for hikes at every level.

In the winter months, the Four Hills Tournament „Vierschanzentournee”on the Paul-Außerleitner redoubt is a fixed part of the events calendar. The perfect location in the heart of the Amadé Ski World offers over 270 perfectly groomed slopes for skiers, snowboarders, freeriders, and more. The Gaisberg cross-country ski trail with floodlights offers cross-country skiers optimal cross-country skiing fun. The Bischofshofner Knappensteig with its ski tour route up the local mountain “Hochkeil”, makes the hearts of winter sports enthusiasts beat faster.
